Applecare failure

I have the insurance policy that includes Applecare+. Today I noticed my device does not recognise that it has it (after more than one month)

My previous device displayed this after 3-4 days.

I tried to call support and this was a big fail. I tried the bot and eventually got through to a human, they told me it was all valid and encouraged me to take a transcript to prove to apple if I ever needed apple support:

I have contacted Apple support and they are certain I do not have Applecare.

It is clear that with the device itself not thinking ot has applecare i would never be able to use the app to get support, which seriously degrades the benefit. But also, I do not see how if i smashed my screen and went to an apple store me showing them a vodafone transcript would help at all if Apple are completely certain I do not have Applecare. It just sounds like a failed nasty argument. Basically the vodafone insurance/applecare link isn’t working and i’ve been completely missold a product.

If the phone doesn't show as being registered for Apple care or Apple care+ then you're not covered, regardless of what any Vodafone transcript says. Apple have confirmed this to you and if you try and make a claim it will be rejected.

How did you obtain the policy? Through Vodafone I assume bit did you pay for it? Or was it a promotional offer?

 Vodafone insurance.

Vodafone insurance isn't Apple Care+? I believe Vodafone offer their own insurance policies and if you need to make a claim, you do so through Vodafone and not Apple direct.

I think you’re strongly mistaken, and your assumption of knowledge and arrogance here illustrates what a complete waste of time this “community” is.

Their insurance policy also includes Applecare+ coverage. If you’d read my original post properly you would have read the part where I explained on previous device the Applecare policy showed on the device. I claimed a new screen using the policy, so unless I imagined using the applecare app, queing at Apple covent garden during early covid regs, and having a new screen, I think you’re incorrect.

I did say "I believe"...

Anyway, you won't get any support here from Vodafone customer services, only advice and opinions of fellow customers like myself. Try calling 191 again and maybe you will get a more knowledgeable advisor, or do as the last one suggests and take that transcript with you should you ever visit the Apple store again.

Hi @jb2021

At the end of the day those that take up insurance from whatever source do so for peace of mind so when something like this happens I can appreciate that unsettles this and as these phone's can be quite expensive to repair and replace nowadays I know it's vitally important that everything is in place just incase we need to use a policy.

As this is going to need account access and a degree of investigation may I suggest to contact the Vodafone Social Media Teams via Contact-us-for-account-specific-queries.

They'll endeavour to get this looked into for you.

I wish you all the best with this situation.

Hi,

Vodafone insurance isn't provided by Vodafone, it's actually a product through Assurant (I think), if you give the insurance team a call (looking online the number is 0333 304 3346) you'll get through to them who will be able to check into it further - it might be a case that Vodafone's system says "yeah they have it" but the insurers systems don't have a clue about it, and will need to troubleshoot it.

Thanks for that and thanks for all the replies on here, sorry if I was a little grumpy to replies last night!

I think is another company, though yesterday evening calls to the actual insurance line only left option of claims, buy or cancel, and all led to 2 beeps and a hang up (6pm) Off work tomorrow so might try again.

I would, and the sales line would probably be the one I would go for, they know the procedure and what everything should look like if it's done correctly (and if it turns out that somethings gone wrong and Voda's systems aren't saying you have Applecare, you'll need them anyways)
