I am beyond frustrating and banging my head against a brick wall. I have contact Vodafone 10 times, my insurance company More Than 4 times and Apple 3 times.
My phone was stolen on June 2nd and I requested my network provider block the phone. I provided proof that the SIM was blocked to my insurance company but they require evidence that the IMEI number was also blacklisted. Despite repeated requests, Vodafone are refusing because I purchased the phone direct from Apple - they say its Apple that have to do this. But Apple insist they do not have these capabilities and my insurance company advice me that ONLY my network provider can do this And research on the internet suggests the same thing. Interestingly the insurance company said they get this problem all the time from network providers, with Vodafone being the worst! And that I will just have to keep asking them until someone does it for me.
If it was over a small amount of money I'd have given up - this just isn't worth the stress. But we are talking about £500!
Does anyone know how the hell I can make Vodafone blacklist my IMEI number? I have run out of options. I might go into an Apple shop (where they are always so helpful) and ask them to get on the phone to Vodafone with me and force them to undestand that only they have the capabilty to block the IMEI.....
Nothing will make me happier at this point than to leave Vodafone, but sadly I am locked down in a contract until October I hate them.

Thanks Mark, I did message you thru FB last Wednesday (11th Sep) but am still waiting for the Blacklisting to come through. I hope I will receive it soon?
@Mark wrote:Hi @shonagee, we'll be able to look into this and if necassary, blacklist your phone. As we'll need to access your account to do this, pop us a private messafe through Facebbok or Twitter and we'll be in touch.

I am having the exact same issue as Vic_pet. My partners phone was stolen last week and they confirmed over the phone that they had blocked the sim card and that they had also blacklisted the handset.
I now need the IMIE number in order to make a claim. They are refusing to provide this even though they would have it in order to track the use of their sim card in the device. Also, they would not be able to confirm to me the handset was blacklisted if they did not have the IMIE.
I have phoned and spoken to several of the customer service team, and been into the shop. Everyone says the same - they are all also very young and great at the customer service patter, but do not seem to know how to provide the IMIE number - even though every insurance company and every other network provider is able to do so??!! It is a sim only contract but that does not make any difference. All network providers track the use of their sim cards and what handsets they are being used in.
I need this IMIE number or we are looking at paying out around £750 for a replacement device.

If you didn't purchase the handset through Vodafone the agent will tell you they don't know the IMEI. Whilst not accurate I don't think the agents have access to that informatiion.
Vodafone however, like all mobile providers, know your IMEI number. Without this they wouldn't know who to bill for what. Flll out this form and you will receive an email showing the information you require

I'm having the same issues, 5 seperate advisors have told me they've blocked my IMEI number and yet my insurance company is saying it has not been done. It's been two weeks now and I need a phone replacement. Please help!!

I recently had my iPhone 5 stolen. The contract was originally with vodafone, but I moved the handset over to Virgin on a sim only contract but I didn't register it at the time. My insurance company said it should be Vodfafone who should block the handset but Vodafone were useless ! they said as there is no sim in the phone it cannot be blocked by them, when it is quite clear from all the information that all you need is an IMEI number which I have. They said I should try my new service provider or Apple who both have said is not possible as the phone was originally purchased form Vodafone. I have got round this by registering the iPhone 5 on a sim only contract I have with Virgin (but I presume this could be any provider) and then immediately reporting it as stolen and they have now blocked the handset for me - hoorah for Virgin Mobile! I had forgotten how frustrating it was to deal with Vodafone, the customer service is atrocious, I was left hanging on the phone for 80 minutes twice only for the call to be disconnected! and they really do not know what they are talking about. Hope this helps

Hi how did you register the imei with a new sim if the phone was stolen
it is my turn to have a phone stolen with a pay as you go sim and now be unable to get it blocked
I can’t register it as I don’t have the phone
