Can I collect from store without a bank card?

I have just completed an order for a new phone and plan via the Vodafone app, which I have selected to be delivered to my local vodafone shop for collection.  After I had completed the transaction, the blurb on screen told me that I have to present both photo ID and the bank card used to make the purchase.  I don't believe my card is registered "in the system", as it were, the reason being that I have been on direct debit with vodafone since the mid 1990s - I believe it was 1996 when I got my first mobile phone with Vodafone and I've been with them ever since.  I don't recall ever having to update my card details with vodafone whenever the bank has issued me with a new card, therefore vodafone must not have a card registered on their system for me.  Now how on earth will they handle that one when I come to collect my phone from the shop?  Will they give it to me?  I have photo ID as well as all the text messages, emails, etc. concerning the order, but no card on file.  Will it be sufficient if I simply print out a copy of all correspondence received with respect to the order and present that along with my Photo ID?

Hi @BikerMike thanks for your post. The team may want to see a bank card to check the name registered on the card corresponds with your ID and account name. They won't be checking for any matching payment details. If you require any further assistance, feel free to pop us over a message via Social Media and we can help.
