Hello, I need to change my phone currently have an iPhone thinking of getting a Samsung for a change but keeping my old phone number do I have to tell Vodafone or can I just buy the phone and swap the sim.

I have moved the thread to pay monthly @Epping786 , I hope it is correct, if you are PAYG just mention it in your reply.
You can use the SIM in any phone @Epping786 , it's an airtime contract and the device is entirely separate, if the SIM fits just pop it into the new phone. Sometimes a SIM works perfectly in an old phone but starts to do some strange things in an alternative phone and you may need to complete a SIM swap here: SIM swap . When you activate the SIM here: Activate replacement SIM you will be sent a security code to the replacement SIM.
if you are on pay monthly, take a look at Evo on this link Evo if you pay off the device, you will be released from the airtime part of the contract.

No you are not required to let Vodafone know what phone your using.
