Credit check for upgrades?

Hello I've only been with Vodafone a short while but can anyone tell me if you are credit checked for upgrading to a handset from a SIM only deal?

On my Vodafone account it says You'll be eligible to upgrade or change to a new Device Plan and Airtime Plan from 22 Oct 2023 (43 days)

All new Evo contracts and upgrades are subject to a full credit check @AnneB1967 , you will be agreeing to a new credit agreement for the device loan.

The other alternatives are to take a look at loan options direct from the manufacturer for the phone, or purchase the phone at the full price and continue as SIM only.

Yes @AnneB1967 , third parties will complete a identity and credit check for new contracts and upgrades, with the high price of devices it's not surprising.
