Credit file default - ruined my report

Hello

I am writing in reference to the dispute I filed regarding a default marker put on by Vodafone which has adversely impacted my credit file. While I have been disputing the transaction claim made by Vodafone with Zinc Group Ltd (debt collection agency for Vodafone) I am surprised to see a default marker in my credit profile.

Just to give you a bit of history of this dispute:

The account number was related to some phone contract which I took in year 2006. AT that time I left the address in 2008 and settled account with Vodafone with no outstanding balance.

after 14 years, around mid of 2022 I got a call from Zinc Group asking for the payment of 55£ on behalf of Vodafone, I explained them them the situation and also disputed the transaction. They advised to put the case on hold.

For number of years (approx 14 years) there was no payment history for Vodafone account, but in Jan and Feb 2022 there was a payment taken out as I can see 2 green ticks in my credit file for these months.  But in actual I havent paid for these months of Jan or Feb2022.

Please advise how can I get this problem resolved, I am going to process my mortgage application soon and this default marker will have a severe impact on my application.

Regards

Hi @Rajsingh

I appreciate how damaging a default on a credit file can be from personal experience.

Contact the Vodafone Social Media Teams via Facebook Messenger or Twitter DM and include a link to your post here including your forum username so your not having to repeat yourself.

They'll then pass this to their Credit File Team for investigation.

Contact-us-for-account-specific-queries.

I wish you all the best with this.
