Good Morning,
I hope everyone is keeping safe.
I have recently applied for a Mortgage and found there to be a default on my credit file of which I did not know about. It appears to be from Vodafone- my contract came to an end and some years ago but I have found the paperwork in my emails.
To my knowledge, the contract had ended and that was that. I then received letters requesting payment- I challenged this as my contract had ended. I payed what was owed, and I thought this was the end of it.
Having checked my credit file I can now see that my account is in default and this is preventing me from getting a mortgage. I work hard in the NHS on an acute ward and this is my chance to get on the housing market whilst there is no stamp duty. (I am a first time buyer but my partner is not, hence the stamp duty freeze is relevant).
This has crushed me. Is there anything I can do?
Best wishes, and stay safe.

Hi @User11409 I understand your frustration here, and we'd love to help. We are bound by law to give a true reflection of all payment history on an account, but there are errors here, we can arrange for defaults to be removed. I'd recommend reaching out to our Social Media team here. They'll be able to check over your and account and liaise with our Credit File team to see if there is anything we can for you.
