Device plan terminated after 2 missed payments

Hello folks!

Due to being out of work recently, I have been struggling with bills and earlier today I went to make a payment towards my airtime and device plans, and after some persistent badgering about updating my details (most likely to feed to the DCA they use, although my address hasn’t changed and I pointed this out) I was informed that my device plan had been completely terminated. I imagine the total sum of debt covering the plan has been sold to some sharks at their preferred debt collection agency and although I fully intended to rectify the situation now I am able, that option has been taken away from me.

So I made the payment for the airtime plan, and now I’m at a loose end. I have been a customer with Vodafone for 7 years and have always made things square at my end, even with a few hiccups and missed payments here and there. I am still tied in to an airtime plan for two years, paying a ridiculous £23 a month for 25GB of data, with unlimited minutes and texts, when iD Mobile are offering 60GB of data and the minutes/texts for £10 a month on a rolling contract. In my area I don’t really get any 5G reception as is promised in the deal, and the 4G reception is spotty at best so are there any grounds for terminating the contract without any fees based on this? I don’t want to pay Vodafone another singular penny after the way I have been treated. I was told I would need to pay an early termination fee of around £340 to leave, and I am outraged at the idea of being held hostage by a company that treats it’s customers this way. Any suggestions anyone could offer would be very much appreciated!

To clarify @miffedoff , you followed procedure and notified Vodafone about being out of work and made arrangements.  There is some information on what happens if you miss the device payment from the website here Missed Payments

Thank you for the reply. According to the advisor I spoke to, due to the device plan being completely terminated and it apparently not being possible to be reinstated because of the two missed payments, I have no option to pay it even if I want to.

So Vodafone were aware of your situation before the missed payments and you made arrangements to catch up with payments as soon as you were back to work.  You didn't just stop payments?
