I've recently upgraded my pay monthly contract from a Samsung Galaxy S9 to an iPhone 12, the set up went well but when it came to setting up my sim I got a little confused. I added a data plan to the iPhone, did a sim swap, my Samsung has a physical sim but now my iPhone has an esim. How long will it take to activate? My iPhone won't send any text messages and does it keep the same phone number as my previous sim? I've never upgraded before, the Samsung was my first contact phone and this is my first upgrade, does everything else like monthly payments continue to go through automatically? and while the monthly payments for my Samsung stop?

Yes you'll keep your number as the upgrade takes place on your account @meganmacl
Your monthly payment set up will be the same with your new tariff payments and allowances being on a pro rata basis

Did you want to use an esim ?
I ask because its viable to continue to use the sim card you've been using in your Samsung phone as both use a nano sim card.

Yes I did want to swap to an esim, I used the Vodafone app to do the sim swap and used the QR code sent to set it up on the iPhone.

Ok @meganmacl
Vodafone should send you an email when activation is complete.
But as I mentioned customer services can advise.
