If the first Vodafone bill is double, is the last one nothing?

I'm a new customer to Vodafone and I've just looked at my first bill and it's double what I expected!

I've already seen that this dirty trick is pulled on every new customer as it seems we are all changed for a month in advance.

If I am charged a month in advance does this mean I won't get a bill for my last month because I will have already paid it?

Hi @Pappamole

I appreciate when first joining Vodafone the billing can be unclear.

This from When-will-I-get-my-first-bill-and-how-much-will-it-be. may help.

“ You’ll get your first bill within a couple of days of joining us.

You’ll be charged for the first few days of your plan, plus the next full month – we bill this in advance each month.

Customer services on 191 or Live Chat can access your account and officially clarify.

Hi @Pappamole I appreciate this may have been a surprise for you! As @BandOfBrothers  and @AnnS have explained, your bill is charged a month in advance. As a new customer (welcome by the way!), your first bill will always be higher than your standard bill amount as you'll pay a pro-rata amount for the period from activation to your bill creation date, plus your usual month in advance. Your next bill should be back down to your normal amount, but if you have any questions, please feel free to pop our Social Media team a message here, and we can talk you through the specifics.

Thanks

It’s the same as broadband/home phone/Sky/Virgin - all services are charged for a month in advance to cover the allowances/services you’re about to use. When you join, you have a bill covering you from when you connected to that service up to the bill date, then a month in advance. You’re only paying for what you’ve used or going to use. It’s not a con. In retrospect when you cancel, you may get a pro-data refund at the end, depending on the date you cancel.
