Hello folks
My SIMO deal (with a discount) just expired and my next bill will be generated on Sept 5th, so I'm keen to get on a new contract. I have an iPhone 13 Pro and an Apple Watch cellular, which will cost me about £22 + £7 for the watch, if I let the contract roll over. Looking at the upgrade deals on the VF website, it looks like I'll pay about £17 + £7 for a similar 24m deal on renewal. Looking at uSwitch, I can get a 12m SIMO deal with the same amount of data, minutes and text for £8. I would then add £7 (hopefully no more) for the watch connectivity. That looks like £15 all-in, rather than £24 and on a 12m contract rather than 24m.
What I can't see is: how do I hang onto my mobile number if I go the uSwitch route. It looks like they send out a new SIM. I believe my phone is also compatible with eSIM but I'm not really sure whether that makes better sense or not, in this situation.
Has anyone else done this? How did you hang onto your mobile number and did you lose service for a while?
TIA
Jez

You can certainly keep the number @Jezzer22 but it won't be straightforward.
The quickest way to complete this would be to port the number you want to keep to any other network on PAYG, you can get a PAC by text by following this link: Cancel Account . When the number moves around 24 hours later repeat the process and port the number you want to keep to the new affiliate contract. Alternatively, ask Vodafone to put the number you wish to keep on PAYG, this takes 30 days to complete and move the number to the new contract here: Keep My Number
If you want to move to eSIM, get the number moved first and then make the change.
edited to add: @Jezzer22 Looking at the price you are looking to pay this would be on a Basic contract, please be aware this is basic UK to UK calls and texts and with a speed restriction you may find the data speed slow and there is no 5G. You can also get the same deal direct with Vodafone here: Vodafone Cheap SIM only contracts but this would also be with a new number and will need to use the same process as described above.
