I recently ported my number from 3 network on to Vodafone pay monthly contract, I am getting phone calls find however I am not recieving any SMS text - The only ones I recieved are from Vodafone.
Anyone had the same issue ? how can I get this fixed ?
I have not contacted customer service just yet but after reading the horror stories of customer service regarding to similar issues like this thought best to post the issue on here first.

Hi @Vishal415, I'm sorry to hear you're unable to received texts from non Vodafhone numbers.
So we can look into this, please follow the steps to email us in the private message I’ve sent today. Once sent, let us know the reference number you received in the automated email response (this will look similar to #20145678).

So guys, I am back to try again and guess what after a few years the same issue.
I have just ported my number over and still Vodafone cannot get it right. Not able to receive sms but can text out and call out without any issues.
God Help me I am going to have to go back to 3 again and already lost my loyalty discount like last time in 2017.
Update: So I have now been told this has been escalated to specialist engineers who will email me 4-5 days later there is no phone contact however once I have that email I can request a call back.
Lets see how this works out. I will add a further update once I hear back from Vodafone engineers.

Update: it has been 4 days was told I will get an email from vodafone techs but nothing. its the same behaviour as last time. no one will take ownership. very poor vodaphone extremely disappointed.

So I have raised this to the technical team and the agent asked me for my email and said an engineer will email you within 3-4 working days. Its now almost 7 working days still no email. I decided to talk to vodafone support they said my notes say my issue is resolved. so now I am going through the whole what phone are you using etc. lol its exactly the same like it was in 2017 when I tried to join Vodafone and then had to leave cause after 40 days still no sms. Please can someone fix this I have lost my loyalty discount with 3 as well now I dont want this to end up like last time. someone needs to take ownership

Thank you for your reply, I have had to raise a complaint it is being handled by that department. Still not resolved at the moment but supposed to hear back from them at some point this week. Current as it stands I am still not getting any SMS messages. I also noticed if i turn on chat feature and send an SMS it shows that temp vodafone number if i turn the chat feature off and send an sms then it shows the number i ported. So definitely issues. Keeping my fingers crossed that third line is able to resolve this.

Hey @bonbonizer, it sounds like your temporary number is still registered to your iTunes/Google Play profile, this may cause the problems you're currently experiencing. If you let us know the make and model of the phone you're using, we'll be able to help you update this.

Hello Mark,
Thank you for your message, I am not using IPhone I am using Google Pixel 2 Android device, I have also tested the sim in Samsung S20 and a Huawei p smart same symptoms not joy. I have done a factory reset on all three phones just for the sake of it however any other sim from other networks and even my pay as you go vodafone sim works fine with no issues with sms at all.

If your temporary number shows when you turn your RCS (Rich Communication Service) on, this would indicate it's still registered as the number linked to that device. This wouldn't cause the issue you're currently experiencing, but may cause confusion if you use this service rather than standard SMS going forward. You can update this by following these simple steps 👉
