Hello,
I've already saw a few posts around here with people noticing the same things but never a resolution just questions around if they're moving locations etc which seems to be an intentional irrelevant time waste. Long and short of it is that I switched network from three to vodafone for a supplementary connection to my home broadband due to vodafone using more preferencial masts in the area. I noticed on speed testing through any site I get a sudden spike and then a slow drop in speed down to around 10-13MB download. I am using a static router and external aerial positioned towards a mast, this is also irrelevant as my issue is not signal but the ability to circumvent traffic management via VPN to get higher speeds.
If I connect any VPN on my phone or laptop, my speed jumps to 30-40MB steady with no decline. This is so obviously some sort of traffic management or configuration that is limiting my speed, how can it be advertised as the 'max speed available' when I get 10 down by default but can get 40 steady via a VPN? There are discussions with other users on plans with usage stating they have had 40-50 down but on moving to unlimited max that their speed suddenly dropped to 10-15.. This needs to be investigated as it's completely unfair to sell a package as max unlimited with any sort of management going on.. unless it's being intentionally misleading saying we'll provide you what we deem to be the fastest available through management algorithms rather than the max the bare metal mast can put out to you at the time.
Any help would be appreciated.

I believe it is linked to data usage. I was using an average of 60gb per day mostly due to cloud gaming which uses about 10gb-15gb an hour. In last few weeks been reduced to 20mbps (8.5gb an hour) making cloud gaming at 1080p not viable. Due to this it is on all 4k services as well making Unlimited Max not so Unlimited now.

How much data have you used in this cycle? I’ve used 323.4GB and have no restrictions….
EDIT: Sorry just reply-read your post. 60GB a day? Wowsers. Still, there is nothing in their FUP sheet to say there is traffic shaping on the Max plan…

I have just over 900gb in 30 days. 3 days ago eventually got a restriction taking off but very sheepish aka not admitting traffic management. 4k/cloud gaming all good till now back to no joy again. My feeling is there is a 100gb in few days type algorithm auto block which restricts certain traffic (streaming based). If I am not profitable to Vodafone due to high usage on Unlimited Max I understand just like to know so stops waste of time and will cancel.

Thanks for the links have sent complaint to Ofcom due to the denial by V of traffic management on Vodafone Max even though on 2 occasions restrictions were removed but reinstated possibly by data amount automation. To add am a high user of data due to 4k/cloud gaming and restricted on these services to 10Mbps which are required to have 30Mbps bandwidth. My connection speed excluding 4k content is 80mbps to 10Mbps. I believe port 443 UDP is the culprit of selective data management. By the way a VPN circumvents but not good for cloud gaming due to input lag and latency.

Yes the throttling is 10Mbit/s on port 443. As it is packet dependent this is a violation of net neutrality. You ought to be able to claim compensation but most importantly everyone experiencing this awful practice must complain to Ofcom as once the volume of complaints is sufficient Ofcom will investigate and force Vodafone to stop.
You can mitigate any bufferbloat related lag introduced by VPN using QOS such as CAKE on an Open Wrt router or Asus Merlin enabled router.
