VF Still Reporting My Closed Account To Credit Agency

I canceled my vodafone account after many years, a few months ago - due to poor customr service. However, recently I was applying for a mortgage, but was declined because of too many open 'accounts'. I didn't know what they were refering to.

So, I ended up buying a subscription to a credit checking service, and noticed that Vodafone are still reporting that I have an account open with them, but paying £0 a month. This is as good as having an unused credit card/store card on your account - because lenders will see the 0 and expect that it could rise to anything.

I rang up to explain this, and turns out they owed me £45 (or there abouts) - so Vodafone, was going to carry on keeping my account open, instead of just refunding me when my account was *closed* initally. Instead, my accounts been kept open, waiting for me the customer to ring asking for my refund and to close my account - even though I was unaware of this money owed to me, as Vodafone have made no contact to get in touch with me (my address and phone numbers are the same).

So, the girl on the phone has now issued the refund and *closed* my account, and told me they'll write to the credit agencies to fix the problem and should take around 30-45 days. I kind of explained that this has been a problem with Vodafone, unwillingly keeping me in a contract (what it looks like on my credit file), without my agreement, and as a result means my credit file will not be updated in 30-40 days, and therefore cannot apply for the mortgage up until that point. Not to mention, it now looking bad that lenders will see I am applying for what looks like lots of credit (due to re-applying). Unfortunatly, the girl on the phone didn't understand the issue....

The same thing has happend with Sainsbury's who actually went above and beyond in fixing the problem, and even went as far as compensating me as we've potentially miss out on a property we like, and to some degree tarnished my credit file.

I probably wouldn't of been as bothered as much as accidents do happen, it was when she was casually talking like it was just a simple refund and my credit score didn't matter....

@SpenJC Usually when you complete the form by following the link on the message, you receive an automated email confirming we've received your query and this also contains your reference number.

I've checked our inbox and can't see a message from the registered email address on your Community account.

Please check the new private message I've sent over with an alternative contact method. Rest assured, as soon as our team receive your email, we'll be able to check why the account is still reporting as open and make any necessary changes.

I am also experiencing the exact problem where Vodafone is still in my credit report of 0 balance, though I closed my account back in April 2015!! Despite this, Vodafone still sent bills for May and June 2015, after which I sent a complaint letter to ask them to stop sending bills. But little thing I knew that the credit report is still active until today. Please resolve this URGENTLY, as I am in the middle of applying for my mortgage.

Thanks!

Hello

Can I also get some assistance with this please, I have now left vodafone, shut down my account in february of this year and you are still showing on my credit file.

An urgent reply would be appreicated, thank you

Of course @Ben105348, one of our Credit File Specialists will be more than happy to take a look into your account for you.

So they can do this, I've sent you a private message with details on how to get in touch.

Can I have the contact details too please? The account was closed in 2016 and I’ve spoken to Vodafone on live chat who have confirmed that the account is not owing any money.

Can I have the details for the specialist care team please? I closed the account in 2016 and it is still on my credit report. I contacted Vodafone using live chat and they have confirmed there is nothing owing on the account.

Hi,

I was looking here because I am no longer a vodafone customer for a number of years, but STILL have an entry on my credit report and Vodafone are still reporting monthly entries to the credit reference agency ?

How can I get this resolved and corrected ?

Did anyone manage it ?

Exactly same thing has happened to me. Account closed two years ago but I’ve been due a refund of £16 ever since which I didn’t know about which has kept my account showing on my credit file. Phoned Vodafone and as pleasant as the man was on the phone he just kept saying the account was already closed. Don’t think he knew what I was on about but says he’s refunding the money I’m owed. @vodafone can you DM me the link you’ve been sending to the others please to get this sorted. Thanks

They told me to use Facebook support.

They reply every 24h, then says that every 24h, they need my details again for security (they can't seem to scroll up). Then 48 hours later, its someone new on the convo and they ask for my details again. I've pasted my name/postcode/DOB/email 3 times now.

I just filed a complaint on the website, hope that gets through quicker.

Thanks for the heads up but I’m not on Facebook so that won’t work for me. Will see what they say on here first
