When we go roaming in Europe Vodafone clearly has arrangements with other European mobile providers and the signal as a result is often much better than in the UK as your device latches onto which ever provider has the best signal and you get billed by Vodafone as normal. Brilliant. So my question is, why cant we have this in the UK.? I notice there are various small companies offering this but the prices and data amounts make it pretty much unusable.
There are just four mobile operators in the UK. When will one of them, perhaps Vodafone offer a cross network sim card with a usable amount of data or preferably unlimited. Clearly its possible as it happens in Europe and there are companies providing it already albeit as a very limited service.
I have been travelling for five months in the UK recently and I had to buy a second EE sim as my Vodafone one simply didnt cut the mustard in many locations and at times neither did the EE one. The technology is there so why cant we have it?

I use a dual sim phone because of this too @barryd999
I don't see networks in the UK doing this as ultimately their wanting customers paying them to use their services.
We're only at the stage of networks sharing masts to have their own equipment on them.

Yes @barryd999 the technology is there.
This won't be something available direct through a network if you use Google there are online sites offering an all network SIM.

Yes there are a few small companies offering all network sims but they are as far as I can tell very very limited. I found one that was £200 a year which sounds reasonable but it was for 10gb a month! This is what they described for heavy users! 🤣. To put this into perspective in the last 48 hours ive used over 20gb.
I would be happy to pay say £30 a month for an unlimited SIM but also happy to pay an additional surcharge for all network access. Like I say, if they can do it all over Europe which Vodafone have done well for years why not do it here? We only have four providers. How hard can it be?
