Using dual SIM abroad

Hi. I am travelling to Sri Lanka soon and want to use a local SIM. My phone is a Samsung A42 with dual SIM. Will I be able to use both my UK SIM and a foreign one? Will I need a NUC for the local one? I'm on a pay monthly contract. Many thanks.

Vodafone should now be providing phone's unlocked out of the box @HelW

Ofcom > mobile-firms-banned-from-selling-locked-handsets.

As a tester I'd suggest to pick up another different uk network payg sim card and try that in the phone's sim 2 slot to see if the phone accepts it.

If for some strange reason it does not then use the Nuc form and input that unique imei for slot 2.

You're very welcome @HelW

To add when you insert the 2nd sim in you may then need to go into your phone's sim card manager settings to choose what the 2nd sim can do.
