Apple Watch International Roaming

In the recent Apple device launch https://www.apple.com/uk/apple-events/ @~16mins  Apple announced that international roaming is coming to watches from series 5 onwards.

Vodafone is included in the 30 launch carriers - does anyone know any more about when this is likely to be available?

I have an Apple Watch series 7 running 9.2 and still shows: Apple Watch cannot use mobile plan while roaming internationally. 

Watch was bought directly from Apple EU version.

I have spent hours with Vodafone support (business account) and activated and deactivated many times OneNumber... still does not work roaming in EU. 

Some clear update on this would be great.

Is this a sw issue or simply Vodafone’s not ready yet.

This is the message I have on mobile data’s apple watch app on the Iphone:

“Apple Watch cannot use mobile plan while roaming internationally “

You can see this message if your Apple Watch hasn't been set up to use your data plan whilst roaming @Denny787. You can make sure its set up correctly by opening the Settings app on your Apple Watch. Tapping Mobile, then turning data roaming on. For more assistance with, please see the information offered on Apples support page.

I don't have that option too, I'm roaming right now and when I try to set the data plan on the Apple Watch app on the  iPhone I get "Apple Watch cannot use mobile plan while roaming internationally" and therefore I cannot setup the plan. 

When I try on the watch, of course there's no SIM or data plan available. Has Vodafone tried this?

From the link you shared @Mark , Apple says:

"To get international roaming on your Apple Watch, contact your iPhone network provider to add your watch to your iPhone mobile roaming plan."  

How do I do that?

You can’t do that.

 Last time I spoke to Vodafone Uk they said that the roaming was not available yet.

But in the past few days I have twice been told via Vodafone live chat agents that Vodafone DO now support roaming on apples qualifying watches.
They just haven’t been able to make it work for me yet and clearly don’t know how either….! 
The key is definitely to ask them how to have the “Data Roaming” toggle installed. If they can do that for us & we are on a roaming plan we should then be good to go.

i don’t think there’s anyone with a device that works with Vodafone Uk.

Should you be able to see the “Data Roaming” toggle on the Apple Watch while still in the UK?

I am in the UK on a UK Vodafone roaming plan & and the Data Roaming toggle is not on my Watch. 
Or is it that this toggle will only appear when I arrive in a roaming country please?
