In the recent Apple device launch https://www.apple.com/uk/apple-events/ @~16mins Apple announced that international roaming is coming to watches from series 5 onwards.
Vodafone is included in the 30 launch carriers - does anyone know any more about when this is likely to be available?
Thanks

As I said before - the Apple keynote listed Vodafone as a supported carrier, however it didn’t specifically mention the UK network. I don’t think Vodafone UK have ever mentioned it being available?

The ability for Apple Watch to roam has indeed been implemented in the OS as there are carries in the US with whom the option pops up. I.e. the watch itself now likely knows how to deal with a foreign network on a software level. Apparently, there is an engineering piece of work having to do with VoLTE and Roaming capabilities enabled on the watch line that the carrier needs to carry out. I suspect it’s just not a priority for the carriers given the limited number of customers to whom would be a significant enhancement.

It’s such a disappointing situation.
There is a solution I found, truphone do an Apple Watch only Esim unlimited plan for a month or year. Worth looking into until Vodafone allow roaming.

Is this still an issue? Does Vodafone now support Apple Watch cellular roaming?

Not sure it can be classed as an issue as I don’t think it was ever specifically offered for the UK market…
