Solution

Not receiving OTP messages but successfully receiving normal text messages.

Hello Community!

I have gone through the forums and see that over the past few years this problem has popped up on occasion. I receive normal text messages fine, like those from my wife and friends. But when I attempt to access a website that requests the OTP code (usually 6 digits) I never receive these messages. So I am blocked from accessing my accounts on these websites (e.g. HUK24 for my car insurance policy). I also have U.S.-based Skype and Google numbers and I get OTP messages just fine from U.S. sites that send me these messages (e.g. Bank of America). How do I go about fixing this problem so I can get to these really important sites that I need access to?

Thanks,

Kevin

@kfeige - I understand this must be frustrating. Please can you test turning your phone off and back on to help to refresh it on the network? I know you’ve probably done this already, so I’m sorry for asking, please make sure the number being entered is the right one linked to your phone.

Once you’ve done this, please go to:

  1. Settings
  2. Messages
  3. Message Filtering and make sure this isn’t selected
  4. Next scroll to ‘Blocked Contacts’ and check what numbers show there

If the above doesn’t resolve it, I’d recommend testing the SIM in another phone just to rule out if it’s the phone or SIM. Please keep us updated.

Hi

I also have had this problem since June 19, 2023, Vodafone's support solutions are very ridiculous, funny and a kind of comedy.

As an example of your solution, as the manager of this forum, can't you search and see that many Vodafone users have had this problem since 2019, and the only solution for all of them is porting to other service providers?

Instead of these ridiculous and stupid solutions like resetting inflated settings, ask Vodafone engineers to follow up on the problem from the inside and not waste all the salaries and benefits they receive.

I am also waiting for the problem to be fixed in the next few days because my business depends on the OTP code and after that, I will complain to Ofcom.

My problem was solved by Vodafone support after a few days, apparently the problem was with the configuration of my Vodafone account.

Hi

Could you give us more details about what was not correct in your account configuration? I am facing the same problem and the vodafone customer service is not able to help.

I have tried activating and deactivating the premium messages and still the same issue.

Thanks

I came to US for a brief time. selected various network but it shows SOS only.

Hi @My_VI_GRS Sorry for any network issue you were having in America. We can't guarantee the quality of the network whilst roaming, but anytime you are having problems I'd encourage you to reach our teams if possible. If you ever encounter the the issue again, or need help with anything else, please feel free to pop our team a message over on our social channels found here.

Thanks

It used to work file but of late it is deteriorating. AirTel works fine.

Thanks @My_VI_GRS You've posted on the Vodafone UK Community forum, do you have a UK number? We're only be able to assist UK based Vodafone accounts here. If this isn't the case for you, then you'll need to speak with your local Vodafone team.

I had this issue today. Wasn’t receiving any OTPs from Google specifically (was receiving them from all other platforms). Easy fix was to reset my network settings.

For iPhone > Settings > General > Transfer or reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

Then give it 10ish minutes for it to take effect and try send your OTP again. Worked well for me.
