Series 4 Apple Watch Cellular doesn’t work

So, in typical Vodafone fashion they have come out with a new feature and product that doesn’t work at launch - in-fact it does several unannounced and unauthorised credit checks.

So I received my brand new iPhone and Apple Watch today and I have to admit, they look fantastic, after opening the iPhone box and just seeing the magnificence that is the phone I am definitely happy with my purchase.

I open up the oddly packaged watch box and start to set it up, everything is fine except for when I got to the mobile data setup section- at first it looked promising a Vodafone log-in screen, “Awesome” I thought, so I logged in and all of a sudden it was asking me to add a subscription for £5 per month.. I thought this was strange as I was already paying for the watch now you’re trying to charge me more for a subscription, I knew it seems to be a mistake so I just glanced at the terms, it seemed normal just about linking them together so it made sense, I went ahead and clicked add subscription knowing that I would just call Vodafone and explain the situation if they tried to charge me more.

Anyway, it shows me a loading screen and I’m simply waiting for it to complete the link between my devices.

After a short while it went to a blank white screen and then... what’s this... I HAVE FAILED A CREDIT CHECK AND I HAVENT BEEN CHARGED?!?!?

So not only did it fail.. Vodafone has performed a credit check, without authorisation just to link it to my existing plan that I was already credit checked on?

Good one Vodafone, will be returning the watch and the device and leaving the network for good, this is the final straw, I’ve had nothing but trouble with you for 7 years and I’ve stuck by you, but you just cannot get anything right first time, EVER.

wondering if anyone else had this happen to them.

Hi everyone,

OP here, I can’t believe this issue is still effecting some people, I get emails almost daily about updates for this, it’s crazy to think it still hasn’t been sorted for everyone.

i can now finally say all of my issues are resolved and everything is working fine, you have to be persistent and contact the directors team, standard help from the tech team does not work.

Contact Nick Jeffries team and hopefully you will get I resolved like I did.

Doesn’t work for me today either.

Beyond a joke.

Getting fed up.

I’ve been told I should have some sort of solution by tomorrow so I’m gonna give it til the end of Thursday. If it’s not sorted by then I’ll be considering my options, definitely. It passed the point of being a joke days ago if I’m honest.

I’m back instore now after a guy off the phone said they still don’t seem to really know whats causing it however even more people have been phoning about it.

he said a guy from the tech team has said maybe It’s something to do with me getting my phone out at carphone warehouse therefor vodafone don’t directly have my IMEI number of my phone so as a maybe, to nip instore and get them to manually add it but he’s not sure whether that will work.

I've only ever get my phones from Apple as i have done for teh watches, my Sim only with Vodafone did not have any IMEI associated with it but they didn't need it to pair the apple watch.  All they asked was what type of phone was i using and after explaining an iPhone X not the new XS asked for my Watch IMEI and EID.

Guy instore states he doesn’t think theres a way to add the IMEI number to the account cause it automatically picks it up on the network.

Does any one know how to update the carrier service to 34.0?

So far i have had below issues for last 8 days, bear in mind I have upgraded my plan at the same time I pre-orderd the watch 3 weeks ago:

1. your plan does not support this apple watch: Called and realised the initial upgrade didn't go through and had to upgrade again on 06/10.

2. Maximum number of devices have been added to this plan: I disabled data cap on my account and Called CS this morning and the added EID somewhere on my account.

3. My 4G and WIFI calling disabled on my phone not sure why but Vodafone UK Plan showing in mobile data page in apple watch app and Spinning/Waiting. Below that says: your vodafone UK account is not eligible to enable mobile data on your apple watch.

Below Trouble shooting have been carried out:

-Disable WIFI on the phone

-Reset network setting on the phone many times

-Unpaired the watch and set up again 8 times

Getting mixed messages and excuses every time I have called them and they are increasing their SLA (It was 48 hours first time I called, now is 7 working days) which to me they don't have a clue how to resolve this and they are just trying to buy some time to figure out the resolve.

My carrier settings are still 33.1 and my watch is working
