Series 4 Apple Watch Cellular doesn’t work

So, in typical Vodafone fashion they have come out with a new feature and product that doesn’t work at launch - in-fact it does several unannounced and unauthorised credit checks.

So I received my brand new iPhone and Apple Watch today and I have to admit, they look fantastic, after opening the iPhone box and just seeing the magnificence that is the phone I am definitely happy with my purchase.

I open up the oddly packaged watch box and start to set it up, everything is fine except for when I got to the mobile data setup section- at first it looked promising a Vodafone log-in screen, “Awesome” I thought, so I logged in and all of a sudden it was asking me to add a subscription for £5 per month.. I thought this was strange as I was already paying for the watch now you’re trying to charge me more for a subscription, I knew it seems to be a mistake so I just glanced at the terms, it seemed normal just about linking them together so it made sense, I went ahead and clicked add subscription knowing that I would just call Vodafone and explain the situation if they tried to charge me more.

Anyway, it shows me a loading screen and I’m simply waiting for it to complete the link between my devices.

After a short while it went to a blank white screen and then... what’s this... I HAVE FAILED A CREDIT CHECK AND I HAVENT BEEN CHARGED?!?!?

So not only did it fail.. Vodafone has performed a credit check, without authorisation just to link it to my existing plan that I was already credit checked on?

Good one Vodafone, will be returning the watch and the device and leaving the network for good, this is the final straw, I’ve had nothing but trouble with you for 7 years and I’ve stuck by you, but you just cannot get anything right first time, EVER.

wondering if anyone else had this happen to them.

Hi everyone,

OP here, I can’t believe this issue is still effecting some people, I get emails almost daily about updates for this, it’s crazy to think it still hasn’t been sorted for everyone.

i can now finally say all of my issues are resolved and everything is working fine, you have to be persistent and contact the directors team, standard help from the tech team does not work.

Contact Nick Jeffries team and hopefully you will get I resolved like I did.

You are so right and because of this issue of not being able to get data on Apple Watch I think it’s going to lose Vodafone a lot of customers, I have been trying for 7 months to add data and finally got them to let me hand watch back and cancel it ..had enough of them and broken promises of compensation which I never got ,

Welcome back!

Day with my issue: 162

yesterday I’ve got a second watch from vodafone. Of course first question from directors office was “did you send your first Watch back” - just like that without regrets - no “ok so now we will set it up” or something like that. Second watch doesn’t work as well, they didn’t ask me even for EID xD.

So so if anyone there think I’ll send any of those watches back before any of them will work I answer now - no way. Now il waiting for another 24h solutions :Smiling:

I tried for 7 months trying to get mine sorted and had countless 24,48 hours even a 4 day and a 2 weeks one , been dealt with by lots of different highest levels by different people then was told they had tried to many times to pair the watch so told me to give it back to store cancel it wait 2 weeks order another one which will pair ok , I asked if would have to wait a few weeks to receive it like the first one and they said no ..but had to wait 2 weeks and multiple 24hours trying again and had same problem as first so phoned customer relations and handed the Watch back , that’s it had enough, roughly 8 or 9 months of trying is ridiculous, rant over

I cancelled my contact and bought a gps one hopefully Apple will roll it out to new providers in the future.

And that’s exactly what I’m doing also , I offered to buy the watch off Vodafone and use as gps only but wouldn’t sell it to me so back it went

I’ve contacted with you too many times without result.

But no worries mate - now I have two watches- one is mine and now is from vf and now I’m waiting for your solution and during this time my wife will use another watch for free.

Hi - I'm having the same issues.  Been on the phone twelve times and on Chat and still can't get watch working.  Much have reset network settings a dozen times and reset watch over thirty.

Surely you guys have this sorted by now - nobody seems to have any clue how to set up a data plan for an apple watch.  Any help would be appreciated.

Hi , hate to say this but your dad wasting your time , I tried for 8 months without success, paired unpairing, had different highest levels including customer relations promising, replaced Watch three times on their suggestion but after spending most nights on phone to them and keep going in store I’d had enough as it was taking over my life trying to sort it .. returned mine gave up enough is enough. Bought myself a new gps one only from apple which works fine and I have phone with me all time anyway for calls but can use watch for anything as long as you have phone . Vodafone and Apple Watch are a big joke and disappointment

I your wasting your time keep phoning them - I handed mine back, then took delivery of another apple watch & was completely surprised that it worked,

If it doesnt work from the start it has been set up wrong & no amount of trying will get it to work
