Anyone know why my Motorola One Vision is still stuck on Android 9 and latest security update is 1st December 2019? Software channel is vfeu. Cheers

I have a G8 Plus which is still on Android 9, although later models are advertised as having 10.   I assume the update will come eventually, but may be delayed inthe present circumstances.   It's been getting security updates and I think the last one was April.

Mine is SIM free, but did you get yours from Vodafone?   Network-supplied devices usually get updates later due to the extra layer of testing/approval.

Hi hrym, Thanks for your response.

Phone supplied by Vodafone on a monthly contract. My understanding is that this model has already been updated to Android 10 in the UK. My main concern, however, is the fact that it hasn't had a security update since December 2019. As it's an Android One phone, I expected better than this. The reason I quoted the software channel 'vfeu' is that I understand that it has some input from Vodafone as well as Lenovo/Motorola, and wondered if maybe I could have dropped off their list for some strange reason!

If you look at specs for current Motorola devices, they tend to show Android 10, although earlier devices don't seem to have been updated yet.   I'm susprised you haven't been getting security updates, especially as you're Android One (I'd forgotten that little detail).   And yes, I'd also expect those to get Android 10 fairly early.   It's possible the network overlay is having an effect, but that rather negates the point of Android One.   I'll ask the question.

Cheers, hrym. In recent years I've had various Google phones but as they've become more expensive, I plumped for an Android One phone this time due to their lower price, but especially for the, advertised, regular and timely security updates! Which, sadly, have not been forthcoming. I fully realise and accept that we're all in a very different position to the 'norm'. So, not overly concerned about moving from Android 9 to 10 but can't understand why I'm not getting security updates! Hopefully, you'll get some sort of definitive answer, hrym. Thanks again.

I'll post back when I hear something.  It's an odd one.

Hey @Hugoyourway,

I've taken a look into this and it seems there should be 2-years worth of OS updates, this info can all be found here

Have you checked for any manual updates that you can perform on your phone? Also, do you have much storage available on your phone?

Hi Stubbo, Thanks for your response.

Yes, I do regularly check manually for updates as well as, periodically, removing sim card and restarting phone etc. I have around 90gb free space on device plus 128gb on an sd card. So lack of space shouldn't be an issue, I don't think. I'm veering more and more to thinking that the vfeu software channel is the issue!

Hi again

I'm still pursuing this and asked about the software channel specifically.   My understanding of Android One is that there's no manufacturer layer, so it would be concerning if the network can add one and effectively block updates coming direct from Google.

FWIW, going back to my G8, the only Motorola-isation I can spot comes in a separate app and works with the OS like any other (and it isn't even advertised as A One!)

Hi there, thanks for the info. It's a strange one. To add insult to injury my partner's phone, a Motorola G6, received an update this morning to 1st April. Considering that she neither knows nor cares whether or not she is up to date, I'm a little perplexed! 😜
