Hi Snook,

I'd certainly suggest trying out the latest VMC software to check that there's nothing there affecting your connection. It's also something our tech teams will suggest if you're still having issues.

Can you also confirm if the sick gives the same result when tried in a different location? This will help to rule out if the network is still having issues.

Hello,
I borrowed a laptop tried differen't room's at home, got 3g signal by a window but it is a very very very low signal level ( no bar's lit ) and is unable to stay connected. Why should this be?.Do you know exactly where the transmitter is as a couple of building's have been built recently.Would this be causing this problem?. <_<
Thank's,
snook.

Hi Snook,

New buildings you say? It's possible they may bne having an effect if they're in the line of your local transmitter. Happy to have a look where they are for you to see if that sheds some light. If, as is suggested, Frank21 is in a similar area and the issue is resolved for him, then this could be the answer.

Assuming that the postcode in your profile is correct, it is a bit of a patchwork, but that's not that strange for London. The 3G cell which generally provides the strongest signal for your immediate area is located down Caledonian Street near Wharfdale Road and Kings Cross Station. There is a nearer one where Caledonian crosses the canal, but that generally is the strongest signal in the area to the south and a small patch near yourself. There is another cellsite providing the area just East of you, which is located just past the Business Design Centre. As with much of London, there is an overlap of signals, but iof the strongest one is iunavailable for ahny reason then the others taking the load may have less signal generally available, especially the further away you get.

Does this match with any of the building work you've seen at all - where has that been, and what sort of buildings are they exactly? None of the sites mentioned aboveshow as having an issue on my systems. That said, I am aware that we have had some issues with 3G in the general London area of late which are under investigation, so this may also be affecting you.

I'm conbfident that, whatever the cause, we can get to the bottom of this for you.

Hello to all
It seem's that the new building's are not the problem going by where the transmitter's are,so it would seem that I am stuck with gprs <_< .Are there any other possible solution's to fix this?,as I really don't want to go to another network.
Thank's snook.

The Vodafone Sure Signal is an option if you have a broadband connection at home.

Hi DPH

Thank's for reply but I dont have broadband at home. The reason being that I dont spend that much time on the internet and with the other payg mobile networks having a 30 day limit on the credit the vodafone is the best option for me.

This may sound strange but it may be worth a shot as I have seen it used as a good booster before - get yourself a large coffee tin, put your dongle inside it using the USB extension and tip it towards your nearest cell. You see things like this in remote parts of Africa and have been known to work really well. If you pick up a 3G signal you could consider cutting a small hole in the centre of the closed end for the dongle to slide through, then hold it in place with some blu tac or carefully applied tape.

Hi Snook,

This one does sound quite tricky, I've just double checked your area and cannot see any problems with any of the sites. There are quite a few sites around you so it's very difficult to say which one is serving your location, but if the loss of signal has coincided with new buildings being erected I would say that's the most likely cause of the problem.

I know it's a long shot but I'd definitely give DPH's rather creative suggestion a try (Thanks for that DPH :)).

Let me know how you get on.
