A Few Problems With My Mobile Broadband...

Hey,

The most common problem i've got that inevitably happens EVERY time I plug my dongle in is that the computer will completely crash, going to the blue screen giving me some chat about dumping physical memory or something, and I have to turn the netbook off then back on. Sometimes it'll happen within 2 minutes of using the dongle, others it'll happen after an hour or two. It always seems to happen at the worst ###### moments though! Any idea how to fix this?

Alsooo, quite often it will tell me "Mobile Device Detected" when there's no ###### dongle plugged in, thus when I do plug it in it won't search for a network!

I'm using the Dell Inspiron Mini btw. Any help would be kindly received :)

xx

Doesn't the netbook have the dongle and sim card built in?

Hi Lemo

Welcome to the wonderful world of the eForum :D

DPH is correct her the Netbook you're using does have a built in modem under the battery that should be used, using an external one is highly likely to cause the machine to crash. Does your SIM work in the built in one on the Netbook?

Give it a go and let us know how you get on :D

Thanks

I had a look under the battery but there wasn't anything that looked particularly like a modem  I don't think it's just me being stupid either. It's the Inspiron Mini 10 Netbook that I'm rockin. The guy in Curry's never mentioned an internal modem, I woulda used it from the start if I had known. If you're sure it has one and I still can't find it, if I took the netbook into a store would they be able to do it for me? Haha I'm such a fail.

Hi Lemo,

Yes a store should be able to locate it if there is one, usually it won't look like a modem it will literally be just a SIM card slot under the battery.

If you don’t have any luck, let us know.
