Confused??

So this might be a lot of waffle but please do read if you have time. I took out 2 contacts with Vodafone and have had countless problems since the beginning. After 1 month my phone stopped working. Turned off, wouldn't charge so hey, brand new still in warranty. Clearly a manufactured fault as immaculate. Chased up the phone for a couple of months and Vodafone had said they were having trouble locating it...3 months later they sent a phone through the post. My husband looked and it and said, that's not the same phone...I had no reason to question this as I hadn't received anything to say they had sent another phone or what needed repairing...nothing whatsoever.

This phone decided a couple of weeks ago to stop charging and switching on (same issue) so I took into Vodafone and they sent this off for repair (2nd time in 10 months)

The IMEI number on this phone they got from my account and sent on their paperwork does not match the IMEI number of my original Brand new phone...

are they allowed to switch my phone for a different one without telling me.. my guess is that they couldn't find my brand new one so sent a refurbished one back... this second repair has come back as unrepairable. So not only have they lost my phone, they have replaced it with one they are saying I am responsible for damaging although it's never been dropped Sat on cracked or even out of the case...

Do I have grounds for a replacement phone or cancellation of this ridiculous contract? Nick Jeffrey office haven't replied yet.

If Vodafone couldn't repair your phone the first time within a reasonable time frame, often they will send you a replacement phone which may be in a refurbished condition. They should have updated the IMEI numbers in their system but I'm guessing this hasn't happened for whatever reason.

I can't really comment as I don't know why your phone was marked as beyond repair, you could perhaps send it to the manufacturer directly who may be able to repair it. You can ask Vodafone for proof of purchase etc with the new IMEI number on it as they'll have a record of this.
