Hi
I have just been refused a mortgage because there is an outstandibg debt to Vodafone from 2015 that I wasnt aware of ! I left vodafone and paid them up to date , apparentl there was an outstanding balance, no letters emails or call to tell me about the outstanding amount . I have since called VF twice and explained the situation , both calls were approx 45 mins each and both times I was promised a call back by Managers but this did not happen .
How am I supposed to sort this out if VF wont let me ? It is causing me a lot of undue stress , I am a working single mum who is trying to put a roof over my childrens head and this is being prevented by Vodafone and they wont even help me to sort the situatuon out .Since contacting them I have received threatening texts saying they are going to cut my service off .... Havent hasd service since 2015 ?? They are also threatening to send debt collectors I saw on Watchdog that other people have had the same problem and was wondering if anyone has any advice on how to rectify this problem or is it best to get solicitors involved ?
Many thanks

You may find some useful information in this thread @sauv > Default-on-your-Credit-File-How-to-add-a-Notice-of-Correction.
I appreciate how damaging a default can be as they last 6 years if warranted.
The typical situation is a person cancels their direct debit too soon when ending a contract and if Vodafone feel they have exhausted reasonable means to collect payment and make contact then they can without any prior warning to the person apply a default on their Credit File.
Let the Vodafone Social Media Team catch up with your thread and I’m sure they’ll try to help.

Many thanks for your reply !
The annoying thing is I didnt have any correspondance from them to say there was an outstanding balance !
I have always worked hard to keep my credit rating , I feel very upset and angry that they are allowed to do this to so many people !
I appreciate your help
Kind regards

You’re very welcome @sauv
I assume you didn’t move home ?
Did you take your Mobile number with you or did you let it go when closing your contract ?
Do you still use the email address logged with Vodafone ?
I obviously can’t say how and when / how many times Vodafone tried to contact you.
I wish you all the best with this.
