Different Firewall Settings For Each Connection

Hi

Just got my new top up and go mobile broadband. I'm about to setup and go but need some advice on firewalls. I have lots of programs which update themselves. I dont want this to happen whilst using my mobile broadband as this will eat into my credit. I can wait till I get home to do this.

I am using vista and currently windows firewall. I guess what I want is to set each programs access to the internet on a connection by connection basis and I am guessing the only way to do this is via a firewall. Any advice?

Hi Eclipsechaser,

Cool name, and welcome to the Vodafone eForum. :)

This is a great idea however you will need to do this via each firewall or antivirus software you have, from my own experience it would be advisable just to switch off all auto updates as standard and switch them back on when you are using a normal internet connection that is free.

This way it will still protect your computer and update to essention upgrades when you connect to a normal Wifi or broadband connection.
