Hung Up On Dell !

Hi,

I've been using Vodafone for a couple of years with varying levels off success but thought all would be resolved with my shiny new Dell E6500 with built in mobile broadband. I thought the nice big ariel would give consistant connections and better speeds but no, in fact I have trouble connecting. At times no web access even though it says connected and more trouble disconnecting. I have to constantly restart the laptop to get the connection going again and it seems to hang the laptop on hibernate or sleep causing me to crash the poor thing.

I've upgraded all Dell drivers and software and all Microsoft OS and apps. I've run the Dell built in bios diagnostices but found no errors. I'm running Vista business and using the Dell Control point app to configure the system. Are there any known problems with this combination? It's driving me mad!

Hi there TCH

It's a shame that you're having issues with the connection on your Dell laptop.

I've not heard of any issues with the combination of Vista business and Dell Control Point application. The only thing I have heard is that you can check your firewall settings as some mirrors require that you don't block the HTTP referers, but this is mainly for downloading to control point application in the first place.

If that doesn't help you, I would recommend that you give the Dell support team a call as they are the experts in all things Dell! Their contact number is 0844 338 1000 and they are available 8AM to 8PM Monday to Friday. :)

Let us know how you get on and I hope to see you around the forum again soon! ;)
