I am having problems with my vodafone lite connect dongle, in that every time I plug it in to my usb port the set up exe screen appears, even though the vodafone mobile connect programme is loaded on my lap top. If I ignore the start up exe screen and boot up mobile connect the programme starts but cannot find device or signal. If I run the start up exe file the programme reloads and works OK but resets my usage to 0 again and my limit to minimum, very frustrating, please any suggestions? I have uninstalled vodafone mobile connect and reinstalled it but the problem persists.

Although I believe you "shouldn't" get the VMC-Lite installation window (language select) popping up when you've got a full version of VMC installed, the reality (I find) is that it often does pop up.
I just press Cancel, then start the installed, full-version of VMC manually and that works. It might be quite important that you do press Cancel on the VMC-Lite install button BEFORE running the full VMC.
Occasionally I have the situation when it says it can't find the device, but not very often. Unplugging the dongle, rebooting the computer, and plugging the dongle back in (is a pain) but seems to fix it.

Hey PIDY,
This is a strange problem you seem to be having and it appears to be a conflict between the software trying to install from the USB dongle. PIDY what version of Windows are you running? I think the first thing to try is to disable the Mass Storage part of the USB Dongle:
This will turn off the memory stick part of the USB dongle but will keep the modem enabled on your computer.
If you need any further assistance please feel free to drop us a post or check out our Vodafone Help Centre for hints and tips on your USB dongle.

- First, make sure you have all the software installed as you did before
- Click the Start Menu and hover over My Computer
- Right click on it and select Manage
- If you don't have My Computer in the Start Menu you can do the same with the My Computer icon on your desktop
- The Device Manager will come up, expand the USB Host Controllers tree
- Right click on the Mass Storage device in that branch and click Disable.
This will turn off the memory stick part of the USB dongle but will keep the modem enabled on your computer.

Thanks for your reply to my query I am using Vista as my operating system with service pack 1. I am reluctant to disable usb mass storage as I have a 2g micro card in the dongle, also will this not also disable access for my memory stick that I use? Is there not an upgrade solution to this problem? as it seems other people are meeting this fault (re: techmind reply) both solutions seem a bit "Heath Robinson", sorry techmind, but if it has to be I would prefer to persevere with techmind's solution rather than disable anything.
Please put your mind to finding a proper solution if you would, I look forward to your reply.
Thanks Pidy

Thanks for your reply techmind, I am doing some thing similar in that when startup exe appears I boot up vcm lite programme, then select safely remove hardware and remove the dongle, after vcm lite programme and startup exe shut down I replace the dongle. When startup exe appears I reboot vcm lite and "Hey Presto" things seem to work, all a bit of a mish mash and I would prefer that things worked properly. I'm not to keen on Adam's suggestion of disabling usb mass storage device so will persevere with things as they are.
If you think of any thing else please get in touch.
Thanks Pidy
