Anyone dialling my number is told by their network that my number is not recognised. Yet I can make calls ok and send / receive texts ok. Vodafone support totally useless.

Hello @Tgarlick69
May I ask a few questions which may help us as fellow customers troubleshoot the problem.
Tip > Can you try your Sim Card in another phone as a process of elimination to rule out the phone or sim card that may be at fault.
Try another Sim in your phone. If necessary any Vodafone Shop can replace the Sim Card via a Sim Swap.

hi @Tgarlick69
It more than likely a SIM issue.
The first thing to try is updating the SIM on the network. This is done by removing the SIM and giving it quick wipe on a clean soft cloth, replace the SIM, go to your network settings, more, mobile networks, do a network search and select an alternative network, wait for it to kick you out and select Vodafone UK.
If problems persists, a replacement SIM from a Vodafone Store will be the next step.
If there are issues after the SIM swap, it will need further investigation from Vodafone.

Thanks for the suggestions but I have done all this in store with a Vodafone adviser who changed the SIM and the handset (temporarily). Made no difference.
Vodafone Support have (so far) been useless and seem incapable of accepting that it's a problem within the network. They never contact me back even when they promise they will.
I have no faith that they are even investigating the matter, I have now written a formal letter of complaint.

You're welcome.
I assume none of my questions apply or are irrelevant.

The Tech Team here can take a look, and they'll pick the thread up in due course. However, it would be helpful if you can answer some quick questions in advance:
Has the number been recently ported in?
Has it ever worked?
If it's not ported, when did the problem start?
Those answers should get the team going in the right direction.

@Tgarlick69 Have you recently ported your number into Vodafone?
If you have and are still having this issue, please contact our team directly using the details from the private message I've sent.

I, also, could phone out but nobody could phone me as my mobile number wasn't recognised. I therefore called my own landline number from the mobile and then dialled 1471 to obtain the number of the phone which had just called and thus obtained the genuine number which had been assigned to my mobile phone. The problem was caused as I had swapped my SIM card for a new one which had cancelled my old number and reassigned a new one to my mobile.

@DonmalThat's downright odd. It sounds as though you have a new contract rather than an upgrade, so check the terms, tarriff etc. If you want to keep your old number, drop a note here and the Tech team will pick it up. Recycled numbers are held in abeyance for a few months before being reissued so, if this happened recently, it may be possible to retrieve it.
