NUC Code doesn't work

I recently upgraded to a Samsung S5, nightmare with lots of issues on my acct but got it eventually, I chose this as I was told in store and during my upgrade it was the only phone out of the iPhone 5s, Sony Z2 and Samsung S5 that wasn't locked to Vodafone, low and behold it is locked! After several attempts to get an NUC code I have one which doesn't work, the email from Vodafone says the following:

1. Remove SIM card from the handset and turn phone back on 2. Switch the phone off and then on again with no SIM in the handset and then enter the following: #7465625*638*NUC# 3. The handset should now be unlocked 4. When entering a non VF SIM, if the handset displays a message asking for a password enter the NUC

I have the following issue, step 2 says enter the following .... which includes letters "NUC" how do I enter letters using a dial pad or is there some other way to do this? I called customer service and nobody new how to do this then they said put the nonVF sim in and enter the NUC which didn't work.... I am still waiting for the NUC team to call back because apparently customer is only good for telling you what you have to do to correct any issues and that the only service they apparently offer is advice! Any help anyone or should I just jailbreak the device?

Do you just replace the letters "NUC" with the number?  If you need letters, I seem to remember that there are keyboard options somewhere at the bottom right - these may give you letters.   But my guess would be that it's #7465625*638*[the numbers of theNUC]#

Tried it with the NUC instead of letters and it says not registered on the network..... tried everything to get letters, long holds and spoke to 2 vodafone staff who couldn't tell me how to do it or even why i needed to do this as everywhere online says I should just be able to put the nonVF sim in and enter the NUC to unlock!

Follow the link that Sarah's given you to get help from the team.  Different phones have different keyboard layouts, so the best place to look for how yours works is the full manual, which you can download from the Support tab of the Samsung UK website.  Actually, if the system is popping up the numeric keypad, it suggests it's expecting numbers, so the problem may be with the code you've been given.  These are issued by the manufacturer, so the query will have to go back to them, as far as I know.
