I have a pay-as-you-go K3565 dongle bought in Poole in June 2009. When I left the UK in September I had used all the credit. We will be returning to the UK early June 2010. Can I simply top up the account when I arrive back in the UK or will the number have been discontinued? If the number has gone, will I have to start again with a complete new dongle or can I just by a new SIM card with the required credit on it?
Incidentally, I was told that the dongle could not be used overseas. However, I have tried it here in New Zealand and it connected to the Vodafone NZ 3G network. When I started Firefox, I was taken to the Vodafone UK top-up page as we have no credit. I disconnected at that point as I have no wish to waste my money on expensive roaming charges, but I am curious to know how the dongle was able to work in New Zealand when it's not supposed to work outside the UK. Any comments?
In 2010 I will be in both the UK and France. Does anyone know if it's possible to buy a PAYG SIM card in France that will work in this dongle without the roaming costs that a UK account would have?
Thanks.
