Roaming - data ok but no calls or sms

I'm in Cyprus where Vodafone appears to be one of the main operators. 4G (and 3G) works great here but I could not  send SMS or make calls to UK numbers.

I used Vodafone chat 4 times today. Got cut off each time after about 20mins. Eventually found out (after trying many other things) that the 'bar' (restriction) I had set to stop international calls and texts FROM THE UK appears to stops calls and texts to UK numbers whilst roaming in Europe.

To save other people this hassle (took all day to sort out) I would STRONGLY advise the powers that be at Vodafone to reword that particular 'bar' to reflect what it actually does or even better make it just do what it says it will do.

Has this bar now been removed to enable you to make calls and texts to the UK?

Yes, that bar is now inactive so I can now  roam as expected here (although I want to stop international calls and texts from the UK)
