HI there,
First of all Vodafone NZ and Vodafone UK have no connection with each other except for the group brand name.
It stopped working meaning it was working? Do you have World Traveller active on your account for £5 a day?

If it was working in NZ, but has now stopped, it does sound as though it has developed some serious fault - SIM cards do fail occasionally, though fortunately not too often. Presumably you've tried wiping the contacts with a dry cloth, just in case that woud fix it?
Vodafone NZ won't be able to help, I'm afraid. They are separate entities, and don't have access to each other's systems. While Vodafone UK would be able to send a replacement blank SIM to your registered home address, getting it activated and sent on to you would probably mean that, at best, it would arrive just in time for your journey home!
Unless your phone is locked to Vodafone, your best bet would probably be a local PAYG SIM to tide you over.

Are you able to check any relevant network Checker to see if it's the network that's experiencing issues.
Sometimes manually choosing another network in the phones settings can help.
