Shocking Service

Service on my broadband dongle is terrible!

I've called to complain numerous times never being given a satisfactory answer or excuse, i did see another thread on here from someone else but can't find it now, in it an admin asked for the OP to do a speed test which i've done and will post the results below.

5th December @ 22:30

D/L 0.37 Mbps
U/L 0.07 Mbps

6th Dec @ 13:15

D/L 0.35
U/L 0.21

7th Dec @ 00:30

D/L 0.35
U/L 0.25

Today 15th @ 18:00

D/L 0.36
U/L 0.05

every time i call i am fobbed off with "you're in an exellent 3g coverage area so i don't understand why?"

The dongle itself was replaced 3-4 months ago (i'm out of contract now) i have replaced the sim card twice the second time was today (15th Dec) and this laptop is checked and updated for anti virus ect frequently!

I took the dongle to 3 different locations (within a 3 mile radius of home) tried it and got similar speeds when i tested then too?

CAN ANYONE HELP?

Hi treacle

I can fully understand how frustrating this is. I would feel the same if I were you.

I have again just checked your local area and you are in a good area for signal.
What I would like to do though is to have a look at your account and check all the information on it.

I have just sent you an email to the address when you registered, can you please reply to this with the relevant information and we can then take a look :D

Something else i have just thought of,

when i go into view and available mobile connections i have

vodaphone 3g
orange 3g
t-mobile 3g
o2 3g

i used to have the same as above but also 2g options for all above but recently the 2g option has gone?

on my dongle itself i have a dark blue light that i was led to believe is a 2g connection, light blue (which i haven't seen for quite a while now) being 3g?

Done another test as above i ditched all Norton (now have AVI) and am using FF
I have run a search for any reason for this machine to run slow and nothing was found.

Reidar if you still want me to install and try Opera let me know and i'll do it tomorrow, got to be up at 5 am :(

Hi treacle,

I'm sorry to hear that the steps I gave you didn't make any difference. Having looked at your area I do believe the issue is simply caused by the serving mast being extremely busy, as there are a lot of users connected to the mast then this is likely to have an adverse affect on your connection speeds.

I can see that the mast has had a frequency re-tune request put in, this was about a month ago now so I'm not sure if this has been completed or not yet. If it hasn't then you may find that the service does improve in the future. I am going to speak with our faults team with the aim of raising a case about this, I do need to stress though that any coverage improvements do not happen overnight.
