Solution

Sky MER and SS

Recently took out an iPhone SIM only tariff with VF and at the same time ordered a SS box as I knew there was no VF 3G at home (only get Edge)

I should have read these forums before ordering really as my ISP is Sky and my D-LINK Sky router was changed over to MER the other week, which apparently wont work with the SS box?

Are VF working on this issue, considering Sky are in the process of changing over all their Broadband users from PPPoA to MER?

Hi guys,

I've just had word back from our Sure Signal engineers that the new Sky IP ranges mentioned on the last page have now been added to our firewall whitelist.

Can anyone on Sky who was in that IP range please let me know if your Sure Signal is now working. You'll be able to check your IP address here. Please note that you may just need to reset your Sure Signal beforehand.

Hi Idhand

Welcome to the eForum!

I've not seen this range before   2.217, I believe our engineers added 2.216 2.215 and 2.218 however I suspect 2.217 has been missed out.

I have emailed our engineer to look into this and will email you when I have a response back. Could you leave you Sure Signal unit plugged in, once this range has been implemented your Box will spring into life.

Thanks
BenJ

My IP address is 94.6.37.226 with sky BB and no luck in getting my SS to work, the guy on the phone yesterday for 40 mins promised me it would be working in 6hrs!  24hrs later still waiting!

Please vodaphone make mine work.

James

Hi scubajames,

Firstly I would like to wish you a very warm welcome to the eForum.

Your IP address isn't one that is affected by this problem, so this wont be the problem. So that we can get your issue resolved quickly, can you please follow our Sure Signal Troubleshooting Guide. This will guide you through step by step what you need to do and what to do next, if this hasn't fixed your query.

Could the gateway be opned to work please

Hi toddle2u2

Welcome to the eForum!

I've just processed resyncing your Sure Signal box

Could you try a factory reset for me?

  • Hold down the reset button until all the lights show (about 30 seconds) keeping the reset button held down.
  • Remove then re-insert the power lead.
  •  Once all lights display release the reset button. The Sure Signal will come online in around 1 hour.

I would recommend as a test powering down your router and sure signal. disconnecting all PC devices from the router and powering the router back up with just the Sure signal attached (and powered up)  once this has come up I would then connect a PC to the Router and test the internet connection by performing the following on a PC :

  • Click on Start  and select Run
  • Type CMD into the Run box and press enter/click ok
  • A black box will appear.
  • In this box type tracert 212.183.133.177    press Enter
  • Paste the output of this command into your reply along with a copy of the results from running a speed test.

Thanks

Hi Gazza23

Welcome to the eForum!

Can you confirm this is the correct serial number, as I cannot see this as registered?

Thanks

eForum Team

Hi BenJ, thank you for your response.

To confirm my Sure Signal serial number is 21231092871 (sorry that I added an extra 2 before)

My IP address is 2.223.11.62

I have also spoken to a Helen in SS 2nd line support this morning who said that she would also look into the probem, but so far following her instructions the SS is still not working.

Thanks for your support.
