Solution

Sky MER and SS

Recently took out an iPhone SIM only tariff with VF and at the same time ordered a SS box as I knew there was no VF 3G at home (only get Edge)

I should have read these forums before ordering really as my ISP is Sky and my D-LINK Sky router was changed over to MER the other week, which apparently wont work with the SS box?

Are VF working on this issue, considering Sky are in the process of changing over all their Broadband users from PPPoA to MER?

Hi guys,

I've just had word back from our Sure Signal engineers that the new Sky IP ranges mentioned on the last page have now been added to our firewall whitelist.

Can anyone on Sky who was in that IP range please let me know if your Sure Signal is now working. You'll be able to check your IP address here. Please note that you may just need to reset your Sure Signal beforehand.

Thanks Lee, that seemed to do the trick and can now receive/make calls.

my ip address is 2.219.88.238 and cannot get VSS working on my sky broadband please help.

Hi pjjohnston88

I can confirm that the 2.219.x.x IP range is open so it won’t be blocked. Could you give me some more details of the issue along with your serial number? Once I have this I can help further.

It might be worth having a look at our troubleshooting guide and replying back with the light sequence and things that you had tried so far.

Thanks

The serial number is 40112506767.

I have been trying a few things like resetting both the wireless and the sure signal various times it all sets up perfectly get full 3g on phones but it is using the whole bandwith of the sky broadband which is 20mb so it shouldn't be using it all.  Basically when sure signal is on no other device can use the internet at all.

Please help.

any Apple equipment, by any chance?

Hi pjjohnston88

We are currently looking into this issue. Could you post back with the following information and I will add you to the investigation.

  • Router make.
  • Router model.
  • Firmware version.
  • How many devices used.
  • How many times happen

Thanks

Router is a D-Link and the serial number is PVG81AC085194.  Firmware is Sky_2.04.

There is usually just a netbook and one iPhone however sometimes there is 2 netbooks and 2 iPhones.

It does seem to happen all the time to be honest.

Thanks Lee I have already posted this information on a previous reply.

Please help.

Hi pjjohnston88,

I've had a look through your posts here and can only see the Sure Signal serial number.

The other number you posted was the router serial number which, I'm afraid, is of no use to us.

Please accept my apologies for not picking up the serial number before my last reply. I have now updated our records but we still need the router model please.

Cheers,

Lee
