Solution

Sky MER and SS

Recently took out an iPhone SIM only tariff with VF and at the same time ordered a SS box as I knew there was no VF 3G at home (only get Edge)

I should have read these forums before ordering really as my ISP is Sky and my D-LINK Sky router was changed over to MER the other week, which apparently wont work with the SS box?

Are VF working on this issue, considering Sky are in the process of changing over all their Broadband users from PPPoA to MER?

Hi guys,

I've just had word back from our Sure Signal engineers that the new Sky IP ranges mentioned on the last page have now been added to our firewall whitelist.

Can anyone on Sky who was in that IP range please let me know if your Sure Signal is now working. You'll be able to check your IP address here. Please note that you may just need to reset your Sure Signal beforehand.

Hi there x_CatDx,

Thanks for your post. Can you confirm for me that data works over the VSS and when you try to connect to the WiFi you are automatically routed over the VSS connection?

Does the WiFi work with other devices such as PCs, laptops and the like? What happens if you unplug the VSS?

Hi pjjohnston,

I'm afraid without the router model I cannot help. I'd suggest you contact the manufacturer for further assistance.

Cheers,

Lee

What you described for x_Catdx is the exact same issue as me.

My router is from Sky and is a D-Link as I stated earlier is there no other info you can provide for where I would find this serial number?

Hi ppjohnston88,

The router serial number would not be something we'd have to hand - you'd generally see that either on the router or on the router settings screen when you access that on your computer.

If you are unable to locate this, then as Lee mentioned, you'd need to speak with the manufacturer, who can either point you to it or provide the information you need.

I have just puchased a Sure Signal box and have also just switched to Sky Broadband.  When I set up the Sure Signal box it does what i says it should right up to the point where the system light flashes.  That just then seems to keep flashing on and on and on.  I have tried to read the forums on here and on the Sky website but most of it goes right over my head - Can you please give me a step by step action plan of how to solve this problem or am I best just sending the Sure Signal box back!!

My IP address is 94.13.175.125.  The serial number on my Sure Signal box is 40111022428 and my postcode is BD13 1 NY.

Please help!

Hi there,

Just in case my last message didn't get through:

Can you unblock:

ADSL Port   IP Address Network Type IP Subnet Mask Gateway IP Address Domain Name Server

90.206.54.97
MER
255.255.255.255
90.206.54.126

90.207.238.97 90.207.238.99

Thank you!

My IP address is 94.6.25.98, can you check this out re the voda firewall issue?

Thanks

Sorry should have said in previous post that sometimes the SS connects to the voda server but it never holds the connection and goes back to flashing lights.

I have given the SS access through the DMZ, port fowarding and fixed IP address, MPU = 1500.  Tried soft and hard reset of router and SS, but nothing works!!!  please can you help me out.

Network - MER

IP Address

94.6.25.98

I should also mention that I am unable to update my postcode as the system apparently cant recognise it - RH16 4UQ so have to put the nearest in RH16 4RL.

Hi there Boz71,

Thanks for your post.

The IP isn't the issue here as it is already on the whitelist.

I've requested for your postcode to be updated on the database as I confirmed here yesterday.

You've also got another thread here that we've been helping on.

I've blocked both of the linked threads to new replies so we are no longer updating multiple threads with the same information and so we can keep everything in one place.

Please could you let me know the following information?

Your speed test results from here.
Your ping test results from here.
Your external IP address from here.
The results of a traceroute.

Your Sure Signal serial number: 40114650100

VSS Traceroute command

On a PC:
Click on Start and select Run
Type CMD into the Run box and press enter/click ok
A black box will appear.
In this box type tracert 212.183.133.177 press Enter
Paste the output of this command into your reply.

This will help us get the quickest possible resolution for you.

Thanks

LeeH

Hi Lee

Thanks for your reply.

I have spoken to one of your tech advisors re my VSS issues and since they re-sync from your end the box has worked ok-ish (only dropped out twice today).  We have also agreed that there is a possible hardware issue and my box is being replaced.  This will hopefully sort my issues but will post again when I get the replacement box.

I am having the same problem with my sky router and the sure signal. My IP for the sky router is 176.25.181.3 please can you fix it.
