Since May 2012 there has been a problem with compatibility when trying to use a HTC one X with sure signal. This issue is well documented on vodafone e-forums and still hasn't been resolved. My question to vodafone, why are you not letting people know this problem exist when they order a new HTC one X, WHY are you not asking the question (do you rely on a sure signal box to use your phone at home or your business premises.)
HOW come your sales teams know nothing about this problem I'm speaking from experience, they know nothing, YOU are a COMMUNICATIONS COMPANY please start communicating with each other can't you see if you carry on like this people will go else where you are making yourselfs look like fools and customers don't like dealing with fools. After ordering an HTC one X which has excellent reviews I probable won't be able to use it at home so i will be sending it back under the crappy 7 day return policy and have to wait for the galaxy S3 to arrive which according to people on the forum has no problem using sure signal. Rant over please be upfront people like that.
Thanks.

set your htc onex to wdcma only, it will stay connected when making recieving calls, i have to do the same. Reboot your phone after so the sure signal box picks up the signal, it works for me. Obviously the ss needs to be working first, seems to be down at the moment.

Its not the ss, its htc radio programming.

At the moment I'm using an HTC Desire until the ONE X is delivered. Up until 2 weeks ago i had no problem using it wheather it was set on WCDMA only or GSM / WCDMA auto now i can't make outgoing calls everything else is okay. Vodafone call center in Egypt come to the conclusion it was the sim card so now I'm waiting for that which will probable turn up at the same time as the HTC one X which needs a micro sim. The one good thing is if the HTC one X dosen't work they have said i can have the Galaxy S3 at a discounted rate which hasn't had any problems when connected to a version 2 sure signal box apart from, when there's a problem with sure signal itself.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for all of your posts here.
When it comes to the HTC Once X and the Sure Signal, boe32 is spot on.
HTC is currently working on a software fix to address the issues highlighted in this thread for the One X. Once we receive the update from HTC, we'll pass it through the usual testing process and, when approved, HTC will make it available to customers as soon as possible. In the meantime, thank you for your patience whilst this was investigated.

To change the htc onex to wcdma only, open app draw, goto settings, mobile network, network mode.

To be honest, all the htc phones ive had, going back to when they started up, all disconnected the data before making a phone call, now this was happening before the sure signal existed, the data icon would just vanish as soon as the phone connected the call, reverting right back to gsm.

So, Guys, it's 12 months since this thread was started. I have now got to say that I am having the same problem! Only its worse.
I am on my 2nd One X in 3 months. Why? Because of poor signal issues. Not just poor wifi but worse...The device just 'loses' it's connectin the network. 2G/3G/4G I don't know what it is meant to use or what it can use but I regularly see the 'Emergency calls only' warning. Even in areas where the signal is generally OK. Where, when the X One is working (or awake) I get 3/4 bars.
So why am I typing into this thread. Because my One X don't work properly with the VSS either!!
I have 2 VSS devices. AN old one & a new style model. I get the same prob with both. They are both registered correctly & with other phones (Sony & Blackberry) they work fine. I contacted Vodafone & was told that the X One worked best with the new model VSS but that it should work with the old one also.
I have tried disabling GSM/WCDMA Auto option. Trying both WCDMA only & GSM only. Both sort of work for 5 minutes. Then I look down & hey ho, no signal!
What is worse if that the HTC One X seems to get 'confused' over whether it should be using WiFi or the mobile network. How do I reckon this...'cos when the phone says 'Emergency calls only'...the WiFi signal is max but I can't browse the web or connect for mail!
So Vodafone - if you read this. HTC One X - definitely not compatible with either of your VSS devices, not truly anyway. I reckon where people use them & see no problem it's because they're probably in a pretty good mobile signal area anyway & they don't realise. And, the HTC One X has a problem with it's signal/data network handling.
I'm not running rings playing with troubleshooting wizards because it's not 'just this device' & it's not my VSS & it's not my broadband! And NO I haven't changed my printer drivers lately....just in case you try to blame that!
Rant over....I intend calling Tech Support tomorrow when I have collected more evidence. My request will be to return the X One & leave Vodafone & I do not expect to be given threats about contract breach. To me a contract is 2 way. At the moment I am getting nothing out of my contract. Oh & by the way....I have a business account so it's my business that's suffering!
Cheers, Dave
