My sure signal stopped working yesterday.
Reset didn't work and after an hour on the phone to an advisor who didn't understand half of what I was saying I was told my sure signal was faulty and to buy a new sure signal for £69.99!
Having had it for years I'm not sure its broken ...
so..
Top light is on
2nd light comes on
4th light flashes ..
2nd and 4th go off and then top light constant on its own and repeats the cycle
ethernet lights green/flashing orange
Is it broken and if so how do I get close contracts for myself and my carer as we'll both have to switch to another provider as I'm not prepared to buy another sure signal
thanks
John

Hi,
Through past similar threads it has been highlighted that the power source can be causing the issue as it's become faulty.
These are available on eBay for around £10.
This may / may not be the issue.

Can you take a look at our Sure Signal Troubleshooting thread, and then post back your results if you’re not directed to an existing thread?

Hi Wayne, non of the scenarios are like mine and 2 that closely resemble my lights sequence are for setting up sure signal... it has been running here for 5 years and suddenly stopped working
I ran the test suggested in the troubleshooting thread ... if it makes sense to anyone?
I've wasted all day on this, the call centre just seemed to want me off the line and "buy a new one" seems a very popular solution on reading other threads on here. I am very reluctant to do this as if that doesnt work I'm back to square one and £70 out of pocket - £80 if I try the power supply option!

Now I can't even log in to my account online as it says
You have no account set up yet.
This just keeps getting better :smileylol:

Hi John,
I can safely say that your power supply has failed,
Here is a description of the problem that is very similar to the symptoms that you describe.
As mentioned above, replacements are available on Ebay, also on Amazon.
You may have a suitable unit just to test with, they can be found on printers, external hard drives etc. The requirements are 12 volt @1.5 Amps with a 5.5 mm plug, although one with a higher Amperage will prove the point.
Good Luck,
Mike.

thanks for the help everyone, been a stressful day ... and calmer now :smileywink:
I have lots of external hard drives so I'll try one of those Mike :smileyhappy:

Power supply from a WD Elements hard drive did the job!
Customer services should of known this though ... anyway thanks again everyone.

It did sound like a power source issue.
Glad the suggestion helped.

Hi John,
That's good to hear and has proved the fault.
But because the unit is running 24/7 often unattended, it really needs the appropriate power unit to maintain the safety of the Sure Signal.
A tenner or so is a small price to pay for peace of mind. :smileyhappy:
Customer services do not recognise the power unit as a potential fault, but don't ask me why not! :smileyfrustrated:
Regards,
Mike.
