SureSignal not working

Hello -

Please can you help ?

My SureSignal v2 has not been working for awhile, there is only a steady power light on it. It did used to work ok, not sure exactly when it stopped working (maybe months ago). I've tried rebooting/resetting the unit but it doesn't fix the problem - it cycles through flashing both white LED then just the left one, then it goes back to a steady power light only before repeating the cycle.

I've got a BT HomeHub 3 (BT Infinity)

S/N of my Sure Signal is 41113720712

I've followed all the troubleshooting steps from the "Steady power light only" post but nothing helped.

Welcome to the eForum mattas,

Many thanks for posting your details ready. I've checked through them and all looks healthy for your traceroute, speed test and IP details. :Smiling:

The unit is connecting to our servers this end but I'm pushing a manual synchronisation out for you to make sure your Sure Signal is up to date.

To complete the process can you:

  • Locate the button on the base of the box next to the Ethernet ports.
  • Press and hold the button for approximately 30 seconds.
  • Once the lights come back on, release the button.
  • The Sure Signal will come online in around 1 hour.

If you're still seeing issues after an hour or so, or you test another Ethernet cable so we can rule out faulty equipment?

Cheers, Ben

I will do. Thank you.

But your guys have been telling me my sure signal has been moved for well over a year and I have lost count of the number of times I have told Vodafone that irt hasn't moved since I bought it.

Any chance you could tell them for me?

Andy Hi

OK. I held down thev reset button for 30seconds and all the lights came on. I removed the power cable and the Ethernet cable. I re-inserted the power cable and the power (1) light came on. I held the reset button down for FIVE MINUTES, then the 4 light started to flash for about a minute, then went out. The power light was still on and I held the reset button down for another FIVE MINUTES but no other lights came on or flashed. By this time I had lost all feeling in my finger. Is someone having a laugh?

Then I re-inserted the Ethernet cable and guess what? It's working!

Thank you. But you might like to re-visit the flashing/solid light sequence thing.

Hi 8970,

Glad to see this is working for you now.

I'm not sure why you didn't see the lights. The instructions Andy posted are correct. I have a v1 Sure Signal myself and have to use them from time to time.

Dave

Many thanks

AND we're back where we started...three lights on 1,2,4 but no signal and no flashing 3 when I try to make a call. Then 4 went out so I reset the thing again. Three lights back on but no signal. Download speed is about 1.35mbps.

Help?

Hi 8970,

Your serial number is showing another location change.

This can be caused by maintenance performed by your ISP (internet Service Provider), or router updates they’ve pushed out.

It may be worth checking with them to see if they are doing any work in your area.

I’ve removed the message again, so can you do another reset so the changes are picked up?

Let me know what happens.

Cheers,

Andy

Hi

I've done another reset and still three lights 1, 2 and 4 are solid. No 3 even when dialling. No signal.

ISP says they lost internet connection last night. I will turn everything off and then turn it on again!

8970

AND here we go again...Serial 21197023308. This time top light on V1 is constant. No other lights. No signal. Factory reset done just as last time, and just as last time, nothing happens.

Please don't tell me I have relocated the VSS. I haven't.

Can you fix this thing? It's driving me nuts!

If your ISP uses dynamic IP addresses, that could explain the persistent location change errors. Vodafone won't be able to 'ignore' these reports, you'll need to talk to your ISP about how to change to a static IP address to counter it.
