Just moved to address with zero signal on O2 so decided to try vodafone...
3 trips to the Canary Wharf store to get a working Vodafone PAYG sim (yes thats 3 trips at about 60 minutes each time - 40 minutes of those in the queue) Note. Vodafone phone support was hopeless - one time diagnosing a faulty SIM when actually... the phone was locked to O2!
Anyway I digress
Finally tried Vodafone at home. Signal still just about 1 bar - not very good, but I can get some...
So decide to try Sure Signal. Back to the store (trip number 4 - so much time wasted!!) I get my sure signal box.
To get this setup I need to be home and logged into my Vodafone account.
I leave the house each morning at 0500 and get in at about 2000.
And guess what - vodafone have decided to shut the site down for maintaince in the evening!
You couldnt make it up... 0 out of 100 for Sales and Customer Support guys... thanks for nothing.
From reading these - bet the Sure Signal will be going back too...

Hi sj1001,
I don't think you can dump all of this at Vodafone's door - they should perhaps have spotted that your phone was locked to O2, but then again, it could also be suggested that you should already have been aware of that. It's hardly privileged information.
As for your working circumstances, and the timing of Voda's site maintenance, that's just how it goes. Maybe they should reschedule to midday, eh? 😉

Hi sj1001,
Welcome aboard! I am sorry to hear we didn't spot that you'd not unlocked your phone from O2 with regards to the SIM activation.
We try and avoid site updates during busy times but they essential to maintain and improve the service. If you're still struggling to log in for registration, I'd recommend clearing your cache and cookies and trying to launch a fresh browser window. Let me know if you're still unable to access though.
Cheers, Ben
