Hi jonkillow,

First of all on behalf of all of us, welcome to the forum. :D

I have experienced this issue before with a colleagues Mini Dell, and all that was needed was a full deinstallation of the VMC software.

Once you have performed this deinstallation, can I ask, would you have an alternative network connection, ie. WiFi to connect to? If not don't worry.

Once the full deinstalltion is complete, shut down your laptop and try the installing the software again. If you have any issues with the software, you can download the latest version on the VMC software from here.

Let us know how you go on with this, as I say this has worked for us in the past with the same error message.

Any further issues, you could always check out our online Dell Inspiron help centre.

Thanks

Hi,
I have been suffering from the same problem on my laptop. I am running Win XP SP3 and have repeated tried to reinstall and followed the instructions above to no avail. I have also run a registry cleaner to clear out any leftover links. I have tried the software supplied on the Vodafone K3565 (Huawei E160X) stick and downloaded the latest v9.3 from the website. I have proven this software on my desktop which installed fine. I have also proven the dongle is working properly. I have previously run ver5 mobile connect software for an older datacard and this still works fine when re-installed but not with the higher speed dongle.
Can you help as I've had no joy yet with the technical desk at vodafone.
Thanks

Hi Richie M

Thanks for letting us know you've been having issues too.

Are you getting the exact same message as jonkillow or is it something different?

The fact that you've said the dongle works on another pc and a different device works on the laptop suggest to me that something has gone wrong when you've installed the software.

Was it from here that you've downloaded the software?

If not can you get the latest version from here.

Can you let us know so we can sort this out for you.

Many Thanks

Hi Matty
I am getting exactly the same message as jonkillow and I downloaded latest software from the vodafone site above. I saved it to my hard drive and installed from there.
Last night I proved the dongle on my laptop by going directly via the network connections but the dashboard still refuses to do anything but show this error even though the initial installation reports as successful.
I have uninstalled bluetooth software, disabled the built-in modem, disabled Norton AV to no effect. The only thing I have not yet done is uninstall the wireless network software (Inexq UO55g) although I have not had it connected or knowingly running when installing the VMC.
I have also been rebuilding a desktop and loaded a clean install of Win XP. The VMC lite software successfully loaded from the dongle and worked.
Hope this update helps as there seems to be a conflict somewhere between both versions of VMC software and my laptop.
Regards
Richie

I also have this problem - I've posted about it on another thread. The SMS software gives a similar XML problem - I suspect it's more a problem with the Windows and XML than it is the Vodafone software, but I'd still like to know how to fix it- I'm currently paying £25 per month for something that doesn't work.

I'm getting the same problem. The SMS software gives a similar XML problem - I suspect it is a Windows and XML problem more than it is a Vodafone software problem. It's still a problem I'd like to see fixed however as I'm currently paying £25 a month for a connection that I can't use! Look forward to seeing what the experts come up with.
