Vodafone cannot or will not advise my IMEI?

Hi, I'm looking for advice please, as i'm pulling my hair out here.

I have a sim only deal with Vodafone, 12 month contract.

The sim was in my Daughter's  Apple iphone 6, recently stolen in Spain. The sim was blocked by Vodafone.

I am attempting to make an insurance claim, but I do not know the IMEI of the handset. I need the IMEI to make a claim, my Daughter threw away the box! I have called Vodafone 5 times, all to the same response that they are unable to tell me the IMEI number of the handset , even though it was operational on their network.

Is this correct, or can they advise the IMEI number of the decive that was operating on their network, but cannot be bothered maybe?

I'm out of contract with Vodafone and the lack of assistance is pushing me to a move i think.

Thanks in advance.

Mark.

There maybe multiple reasons behind this , the first question really, Is was the handset taken direct from Vodafone, Or via a 3rd party, If the latter, they wouldn't have the IMEI number, As it wouldn't be their handset. Another is if the handset was taken out in a Vodafone store, the only way to get this, would be by calling into store, As the agents on the phones aren't able to access orders made that way. Hope this helps clarify a little bit for you.

Hi @TeTsuo

The problem you are going to have here is the phone was not being used on the Vodafone UK network, it was being used on the Spanish network, Vodafone can't give information for a roaming network. There is also the added problem of it being your SIM in your Daughter's phone.   However, Vodafone should be able to check the last call made against the IMEI using your Daughter's SIM.  This will mean if the SIM is in our Daughter's name, she will need to make the request to Vodafone.

Depending on where the phone was purchased, the other alternative is the IMEI being on the original receipt.

Not sure how your insurance company will view the claim with it being your SIM in your Daughter's phone.

The following link may be provide sufficient information for your insurers to process the claim.

How do I get a proof of purchase, usage or barring?

Could you get the IMEI from apple perhaps?

If the phone was not from Vodafone directly in the first place and the contract is a Sim Only they would not have access to the IMEI as the handset is from a third party.

If you have downgraded to a Sim Only from the handset then the IMEI should be avaliable.

  1. Launch iTunes on the computer containing the backup.
  2. Go to iTunes Menu >> Preferences and select Devices tab. Your iPhone backups will be displayed under the Device Backups section.
  3. Hover the mouse pointer over any of the backups and wait for the details to appear

Thanks for the answers all. The phone was bought from a 3rd party, so i'll contact them directly, after checking in itunes to see the logs/backup. Again, sincere thanks.
