Vodafone connect router DHCP settings

I have posted this into off topic as I can not see any reference to Vodafone Home phone and Broadband.

I have install the router and all is working but there one thing that is missing from the setting of the VDSL router that being a function to turn off DHCP, I have for the pasted 10 year had my own network running at home with a fully working server that is my DHCP & DNS server but for the first time in history I have just sign up for 18 month and got a bloody router that has no function in the GUI settings pages to turn OFF the DHCP server. So for now I will have to wait for 18 months before I can change ISP. thanks vodafone tech team for missing this one. If there is anyone out there that can offer me a firmware update to give me the function to turn OFF DHCP then please post it.

Well, I'm still being told verbally over the phone that I have to use my own router, and as I can't be bothered with the prospect of having a fight to get my login details once joined, they're not getting my custom!

I so wish I hadn't read this thread now :Smiling:

Just over a week until my "go live" date and I'm worried that my lovely 74mb connection is going to become a 64mb one.

I know, I know - I should be happy with that, but when I know what I should be able to get that is going to be so damn annoying.

I guess all I can do is wait. I do still have my old Open reach modem, so if some of the things said here are to be believed, I could always go the Openreach modem and purchase a router option.

But got to do all that within the inital 30 days.

Don't worry my connection is 10Mbs faster with the Vodafone router as opposed to the BT one and a Asus router.

What are your SNR figures ?  Mine are 12dB down and 5.8 up.

I get 27Mbits down and 5.8 up connection speed, I was on 39 with Sky.

Mine is 6db down and 6db up

I think my 12dB is too high. I have had endless contact with support over this. I have given up and am counting the months to switch. If only their broadband was of the same quality as their mobile phone service which has been excellent.

From a bit of googling, it seems Vodafone use a more conservative DLM profile -- 'Standard' rather than BT Infinity's 'Fast'.  That would explain why our sync speeds are so much lower on Vodafone.

See http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/DLM.htm#dlm_stability_level

Now, having been on Infinity for 4 years and having had a really reliable service, I'm reasonably miffed that Vodafone will be slower by default.

I'll have the cable I need to set up monitoring of my HG612's stats tomorrow.  I intend to graph the Error Seconds value from the modem's stats so I can get an idea of how the line's behaving.

I don't hold much hope in asking Vodafone to switch my line's DLM profile, unfortunately.

How on earth are some people getting their usernames and passwords? Tried numerous times but always told point blank that they don't give them out !

Live Chat worked for me -- I was refused 4 or 5 times over the phone.  When was the last time you tried?  I got mine last week, but had tried in the two weeks before that and god a flat-out 'no!'.

It seems to be very easy to get now (over the chat).  Make sure you are in the broandband support area as general support people don't know what to do with your request.  As I said before they only have asked me to provide picture of the device I will be using with CE marking visible so I emailed a picture of  HG612 and that was it. Of course before they handed it over to me they have asked to agree they won't be able to provide support and troubleshooting.
