I have posted this into off topic as I can not see any reference to Vodafone Home phone and Broadband.
I have install the router and all is working but there one thing that is missing from the setting of the VDSL router that being a function to turn off DHCP, I have for the pasted 10 year had my own network running at home with a fully working server that is my DHCP & DNS server but for the first time in history I have just sign up for 18 month and got a bloody router that has no function in the GUI settings pages to turn OFF the DHCP server. So for now I will have to wait for 18 months before I can change ISP. thanks vodafone tech team for missing this one. If there is anyone out there that can offer me a firmware update to give me the function to turn OFF DHCP then please post it.

I can also confirm it's working as HG612 + pppd on Linux:
here ise the config for modem connected to eth1:
plugin rp-pppoe.so eth1 noccp noipdefault noauth defaultroute noaccomp nobsdcomp nodeflate nopcomp nomppe usepeerdns user 'USERNAME @ broadband.vodafone.co.uk' password 'PASSWORD' default-asyncmap mtu 1492 mru 1492 persist lcp-echo-interval 3 lcp-echo-failure 20 +ipv6 ipv6cp-use-ipaddr
a bit shame they don't give ipv6 but I can live without it for £20pm less on the bill.

Nice one, csiwek -- glad you're up and running! Handy to know the pppd config should anyone else need it.
You might want to look again at IPv6. My Apple AirPort device acting as my gateway (performing the PPPoE login) gets an IPv6 address handed to it. This gives me a /64 'subnet' for my internal hosts, which do indeed pick up a v6 addr in that net.
Checking my router's ipv6 address on https://db-ip.com/ tells me it's a Vodafone-owned block. Sadly, it's using 6to4, but using ping6 ipv6.google.com gives a decently-low figure (about 18ms vs 12ms on ipv4).

Thanls for the info. I am definitely not getting any ipv6

That's odd -- there must be some kind of geographic roll-out taking place. I'm sure there's some sort of illuminating in-depth report on Vodafone's website about this (I kid, I kid!).
I'm in North Kent (Gravesend), for reference. I wonder if there's anyone else who might be able to say if they're getting IPv6 or not at their location?

I'm in Kent too (Bexleyheath)
