I took out a 24month contract in July 2014 and the phone was Samsung Galaxy s5 and came with two year warranty. By September 2015 the speaker had gone so on calls the person on the other end couldn't hear me. Vodaphone after the 3rd time repairing it promised me a new phone. A customer representatives told me i shouldn't be paying and i went in store and they told me their a system error with the phone and it should be replaced. After getting £50 compensation it broke again still wasn't sent out a new phone and sent back the repair phone instead of a new one. It got to the end of my contract and i was done fighting my case constantly because it was the end of my contract. Their was £239 outstanding and vodafone agreed to wipe it off becuase of the situation and disconnected my number. Only to find out they defaulted my account and ruin my credit score. How can i get this removed, is taking this to the ombudsman the best step?
Any advice is appreciated Thank you

Sorry to hear about your troubles @Anonymous
There is some information in this thread that you may find useful > Default-on-your-Credit-File-How-to-add-a-Notice-of-Correction
In regards to Vodafone clearing any final costs do you have anything to support this such as text messages or emails / letters etc ?
The Vodafone Social Media Team here maybe able to help once they’ve caught up with your thread.

If you had reached the end of your contract, why was there £239 outstanding ?

Because i wasnt using the phone and the amount of time it was in repair. I wasnt paying.

Hi @Anonymous
When you take out a mobile phone contract, it will be airtime only. This means the equipment and the airtime contract are totally separate. Even if the phone brakes and becomes unusable, the SIM can be used in any phone and you still need to carry on paying the airtime contract.
Unfortunately, from what you have written you put yourself in default when you stopped paying the airtime contract. Vodafone may have mentioned writing off some of the amount, but that may well only have been the 30 days notice, not the outstanding arrears. If the account was settled, Vodafone would have sent a 0.00 bill and a letter to let you know you have no further responsibilty towards the contract.
The best thing to do is wait for a reply from the Team here, they will be able to see what happened and will give the best help and advise..

Right. Well if this situation dragged on for some months you'll probably find that the default was placed at the time that you defaulted on payment - that is, before the end of the contract and before Vodafone agreed to forego some or all of the charges. As bandofbrothers said, wait for the team here to look further into this. They are best placed to disentangle the situation.
