Can someone explain why every time there is a slightest update to the android operating system my HTC one decides that every time it switches of and I turn it back on it keeps getting new configuration and message settings update yet nothing has changed? I had this when it updated last time and a reset cleared it and there has just been another update to android with enhancements and now it's doing the same but I dont want to reset the fine every single time this happens. Vodafone? Any comments or thoughts?

Sometimes with Operating System firmware updates the Networks provide updated Carrier File Updates which can change things that you may not see.

Maybe your phone is re booting to refresh itself after the update.

You could just ignore the message and clear the notification.  Although allowing it to install the settings (if it actually does) shouldn't hurt, I'd always follow the dictum of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" and leave well alone.
