Activation on 26th but conundrum with router

We renewed our broadband recently, and got 'upgraded' from Superfast 2 to Fibre 2. Seems like the same thing to me but different name. Anyway, the new package is activated on the 26th but I've noticed the new router I've been sent is a THG3000 and my existing Vodafone router is a THG3000g. Is the router I already have the most recent, and have I been sent an old one? Do I need to swap them over or should I leave the existing one in place and simply reboot it on activation day?

Any help would be much appreciated.

@Privateofcourse  Can you see if you are able to export-import the configuration from old to new router? If this works it could save a load of effort.

@Cynric  Hello, yeah, I thought of that afterwards (another major brain fart) as to make life easier I made certain I backed the settings up on Thursday, just in case it all went wrong. And doing it all over was as painful as it was the other times I've had to do it on the VF router ...man alive, it really does need a revamp. Adding a load of static IPs is an unnecessarily stressful experience...and it shouldn't be at all. Will it or won't it 'stick'...nope, it won't. Over and over until they are all in.

Every wired and wi-fi device has to be on and connected and visible (some need a few power cycles before they show up on the router overview page too..my printer was missing in action for ages even though it was connected and printed) and if you don't have a list of mac addresses at hand to identify each device it's a right pain adding them from the drop down list, especially if you haven't named them in advance on the overview page....which is advisable, even if more time and effort.

Anyway. It's done. Good!

@Privateofcourse  There are some good LAN scanning apps for Windows that will produce you a list of all the devices connected with their hostname, current IP and MAC. Much easier than doing it manually.

Or there's an android app called "Port Authority". It'll identify every connected device by hostname, IP, MAC and manufacturer.
