Blocked Internet Access for my home alarm - was working, now it isn't - what could be the problem?

Help! My home Ajax Systems Intruder Alarm is no longer connecting to the Internet. Everything has been fine and working well, using a Vodafone VCNT-1 running s/w 19.4.0551-3261103.

We noticed the alarm system had switched to communicating via the inbuilt SIM card 2-weeks ago.

Since then, we have had to try 2 x new Ajax Hub 2 panels and Vodafone have replaced the router. Still its not communicating via the Internet, only through its inbuilt SIM, which is at additional cost to us.

All other devices in our house have Internet access okay - so why has this happened?

To test this, we connected the Ajax alarm to a friends router or a different ISP, perfect Internet connection, absolutely no issues, able to fukllty access the Ajax alarm system.

Plugged back into our home Vodafone router, no internet connection, no comms.

The Vodafone router appears to be blocking the Ajax alarm system from accessing the Internet. We have set the alarm to DHCP, still can't access an open port or internet. Everything was working fine. now it isn't. Something at Vodafone has changed recently and its causing us massive issues in connecting our Ajax alarm - its made the whole system redundant/useless at a huge cost to us.

Come on Vodafone, help us out here.....

How can I set up a port or open the Vodafone Router to let my Ajax system talk to the internet once again, as it was working perfectly well over the past 8-months or so, with no internet access issues???

Hi, my problem with getting the ajax hub to communicate with the vodafone router was finally fixed by Ajax technical support. I suggest you report your problem to them and they will access your hub remotely to configure it. Hope this helps.

Solved - We experienced the exact same issue, the Ajax Hub lost network connection with the Vodafone router.  I noted the IP address on the Ajax Hub was in the wrong subnet for the router.  So after changing the Hub from DHCP to Static IP and updating to a valid IP address, the hub came back online without any further issues.

Under DHCP the hub showed 192.168.0.34 IP address, and the router was using 192.168.1.xxx range

So going to Ajax Hub settings I updated the network settings to the following, making note to also change the DNS and Gateway to the match the routers address.

IP address = 192.168.1.200

subnet = 255.255.255.0

Gateway = 192.168.1.1

DNS = 192.168.1.1

No need to port forward any ports.

Hope this might resolve others with the same issue

Many thanks for figuring out what had caused this problem cctvglobal 👏🏻

Ajax technical guys sorted my problem out as they were also dealing with others with the same issue. Although they didn’t tell me what they did I guess it was along the lines of your solution. I’m sure others will now be able to sort out their similar issues following your guidance 👍🏻

sounds like I need this solution. My issue is I’ve never used my ajax hub at my home so it won’t let me change settings.

Any suggestions?

I have tried to do it at someone else’s house and as soon as I change the settings to the one suggest it turns red and resets the DHCP

@M3evoDid you contact Ajax technical support like the other person did?

I would recommend contacting Ajax technical support….. they are very good indeed. They will guide you through the solution or if you are not confident in configuring the system yourself they can (with your permission) access your hub and do it for you .
